Yes. Payton is content with Winston. He claims there's a competition but the reality is Jameis will start. If he can cut the INTs down to a reasonable level which I'm pretty sure will happen, the Saints will be OK. Not SB worthy because I don't think the defense can get it done but playoffs is possible. Winston has Lasik eye surgery and learned under Brees for a year and has been studying film. This is his last shot to prove that he's an elite QB and he's in the best position to succeed. It's all on him because he's only on a 1 year deal.

There were no QBs worth moving up for. I like Tras but he has a weakish arm and a slowish release. Noticeably there were other teams that could've used another QB in camp that passed on Trask. I think Peyton realizes they're not going to find Brees' heir apparent this year. It's not Jameass. It's not Hill. It wasn't any of the 2nd tier QBs available in this year's draft.

Plus if New Orleans sucks this year, they'll be in a better position to go after a top tier guy next year. I'd like to see how JT Daniels or Carson Strong look after a full camp and season as the guy. Both have good NFL size and NFL arms.

A more balanced attack will benefit Winston...any pass heavy offense leads to a lot of interceptions. I hope he makes it this year, I have always admired his competitive fire.

Jameis' career stats read 121 TDs to 88 Ints...numerically it doesn't look so bad to me but maybe the timing of the interceptions makes a huge difference if it cost him games and his job. 

Kenny Stabler is in the HOF and his stats read 194 TDs and 222 Ints...Terry Bradshaw for half of his career had a run heavy offense and half was pass heavy and his career stats are 212 TDs and 210 Ints. Then again my man Joe Montana had 279 TDs and only 139 Ints. TB has 581 TDs to 191 Ints and still counting.

 Yeah, the timing of the interceptions, the situations they come in, these things are factors. My issue with Jameass is that he seemed to be ascending but then regressed. It's the regression that's alarming. Peyton knows that neither Winston nor Hill is the future of this franchise but there was a huge drop off in this draft after T.Law. With Hill's versatility, it'd be cool to see them both utilized in some inventive ways. I think Peyton will bide his time and look for a QB in next year's draft.

Winston's INT's increased because of Arians. No QB was made, yes made, to throw as many 50/50 balls as Winston. Combine that with no running threat to balance out the offense and of course he had a ton of INT's. Add to that league worst or near worst team penalties, missed field goals, and a horrible offensive line...the Bucs actually over-acheived with their losing record in 2019.

Give Winston a coach knows to manage a game and calls plays other than a 40 yard bombs and the INT's will absolutely go down. What does that leave you? 4600 yards, 30 TD's, whatever Hill contributes, and a playoff berth.

The Saints team wins over/under is 9. Their schedule is absurdly easy. 

I'm putting two month's pay on the over, a week's pay on them winning the NFC, and a day's pay on Winston winning the MVP.

Hey bud...wow, that OVER 9 looks like a really solid play (just checked the schedule).  Wouldn't go as far as "absurdly easy" lol, but yeah...thumbs up!

In the division they can get 4 wins (2 vs CAR, either 1 or 2 vs ATL, and possibly 1 vs TB if the Bucs get roughed up by either the Bears or the Bills in the prior week's game to playing the Saints).

Then some others: @NE, home to NYG, @WFT, @PHI, home to DAL, @NYJ, home to MIAMI.  That's 7 possible wins there + 4.  So 10 wins is a very real possibility.

@CheckChange...even week 1 at home to The Packers.  If Rodgers isn't under center then it's almost a gar-on-tee.  Never use the L word on any game, but mighty close to a lock lol.

Brady and TWENTY-ONE new Bucs players won the Super Bowl. Until Arians started deferring to Brady, they were not a Super Bowl team. Brady didn't call for bombs 5 yards farther than he could throw a football. That was Arians. Winston did what he was told, which never included the high percentage screen passes that Brady brought to town.

Winston threw for over 19,000 yards by age 25 on a horrible team. He's going to do just fine under Peyton.

Umm... maybe not? Funny-

Winston does have alot of upside and is only 27. I think his best is yet to come.

Some of Winstons INT's with Tampa that last year were boneheaded WTF is that INT's....Winston is a gunslinger...sort of like Ryan Fitzpatrick. Can look elite one game and then throw 4 Int's the next game...A lot of mediocre QB's can do what Winston did..throw for 5K and 30 INT's..if given the leash. ....Winston is not the answer for the Saints..Last season it was very telling that Hill came in before Winston when Bree's was hurt...That says it all right there...Hill is NOT an NFL starting QB...

If you had to predict their record worst case/best case ?? 

I'd say 6-11/10-7 ...8-9/9-8 more often 

Hill knew the offense. He had been in the system before. Payton has a complicated offense. He wasn't going to put a QB out there that had no timing with the receivers. He wanted to win.

Winston will be starting this year. Hill isn't an NFL QB. He's a role player. He'll still get snaps under center but not the majority. 

Winston will have a run game here. He won't be throwing 30 interceptions in this offense.

 Agreed. Hill was the man for the job last year and like you said he will continue to an integral, versatile part of their offense. As a Tampa rez' I've seen most every snap Winston has taken. Most of his "bonehead" mistakes are correctable and he won't be asked to do the exact same things in N.O. as he was in Tampa. Winston is a fierce competitor with alot of talent. In the right system, he will flourish.His upside, combined with experience, will take him to another level. Remember, QB is the most difficult position in all of sports to play.
