Imagine Jordan love had a bad start to the game, but lead the packers on a come from behind game winning drive leading the packers to victory? Imagine Brock purdy had a hot start but finished the game 6 for 12 for 30 yards and 2 ints including the awful game losing pick??? Love would be getting blown by the media and covers, and purdy would be getting absolutely slaughtered. No one still wants to give Brock the slightest credit, and no one is crushing love. I wish people would be more objective and less narrative driven. I still think Brock had a bad game btw, but he did what a ton of people said he couldn’t do, lead a game winning drive from behind (with no deebo too). This thread isn’t mean to crap on love either, I think he has a bright future, but he did struggle late with the game on the line. Not trying to take a shot at packers fans either, just throwing it out there for discussion.

Probably! But not for the reason you want to point out! I do agree Purdy doesnt get all the credit he deserves! The fact is GB was the 7 seed. They werent even expected to make the playoffs. Especially after how the season started. While the Niners are the #1 seed. While the #1 seed was in doubt for a few weeks. What was NEVER in doubt was Niners making the post season! So yeah giving your scenario. Those would be the likely outcome had that been the case. The 7 seed lost but they almost won that game. How can there be anything but praise for LOVE? Even with that bad ending! Had the 1 seed lost. How can you not expect the media to DESTROY YOU?

Because when they talk about the Niners success they say it's because of the team not Brock. They said they wanted to see him play from adversity because he hasn't shown it. Now that he does, and does it in the playoffs, the narrative is "well they were down because he played so poorly".
All they do is move the goal post on Brock. It's crazy the standard he's held to. He's a 2nd year player, this is his first full season as a starter, and people act like he's a finished product and can't improve.

i get all that, and you’re definitely right in a sense. With that being said though, all I heard coming into this game was how hot Green Bay is, and how dangerous hey are, and they did just destroy the 2 seed. When the niners win though ,it’s oh wow they barely escaped the 7 seed. but coming into the game they are scorching hot and dangerous, which one is it??? Seems like people want to have it both ways. So you would praise love for the 6 for 12 30 yards 2 int ending huh?? If I was a packer fan, I’d be optimistic about his future, but still very upset and let down by his late performance. You know the way love and purdy are talked about on here is drastically different, and not just because of what seed they are. Love got better offensive line play, and his receivers had MUCH more separation (mainly due to niners db’s slipping all over). So while Brock is on a 1 seed and better team, his teammates didn’t make it as easy on him as love’s made it on him. Both guys should be good nfl qb’s for awhile, but one constantly gets crapped on, and the other doesn’t, my point for this thread.

I think part of the reason Purdy is maligned is that he wasn't a high profile college player. Nobody knew he he was, and he wins his first 7 starts, most of them easily, and with amazing stats. Then he lost the playoff game to the Eagles when he got injured. This season, he won his first 5 starts, lost 3 games, and everyone criticizes him. Ironically, I think if he'd struggled at first, then began showing marked improvement, a lot of his critics would think he was getting much better as he was learning the game. Success came to easily for him. People expect, and want to see a QB develop.

That's so strange, I thought media loved an underdog story.

He’s not going to get any credit no matter what he does because every quarterback in the playoffs is a 1st round QB..
Stroud
Jackson
Majomes
Allen
Goff
Baker
Love
7th round Brock is the only quarterback that is not 1st round.. he will not get credit no matter what he does.. until he wins a superbowl and becomes the Super Bowl MVP.. he has only played about 25 games I believe.. but he is treated like he’s been in the league for a while every mistake is highlighted.. whats funny is he threw a possible interception against Greenbay.. but Goff did the same thing in the redzone against Tampabay that could have been picked off and nothing is mentioned except for the Cinderella storyline.. lol it’s almost like they don’t want a 7th round pick last pick in the draft to succeed it’s very strange.. I’m all in with my futures on San Francisco fully invested so I could have a bias towards Brock Purdy at this point in the season.. I would like to think I’m pretty good at spotting talent I believe he has talent especially for having about 1year and a half in the league..
They came out super sluggish on all sides of the ball and were very Lucky to squeak the win out against GB.. I’m hoping it was a wake up call.. winning in the playoffs takes experience execution luck especially when it is gut check crunch time.. ask all the teams in close games over the years..

I live in Green Bay and see it all, the difference is Purdy has been their before, didnt he go to the playffs last year when his shoulder was separated?? you said 25 or so games (20 -5 record as a starter) ......he has a bit more experience and much, MUCH better surrounding cast, no doubt, flaws can be covered.......hell, some of the key Packer contributers came right from the practice squad......Love is getting some heat here, it was a dopy throw, he admitted and he will learn from it, I admire Purdy, i think it is great that it he is called Mr Ireleevant and he is having success. Whats not to admire...... So now putting all that admiration aside, Purdy may get them to the SB this year, cant see them winning it though, maybe.........and he is not Shanahans choice, he is by default when his Trey Lance experiment blew up in his face, they sent Garrapolo and his contract off. Purdy stepped in and is doing well, kudos to him, but the niners have a short window with the studs they have, Deebo, CMC, Aiyuk, Kittle ect. 3 to 3 years, This team is filled with talent plus they are well positioned unde rthe salary cap but the question is how long will injury prone Samuel and CMC hold up?
GL in your SB run......you have a solid shot at it.

purdy is definitely more experienced than love, but love is older and has been learning the system for years. I do think he had a good year, and will continue to improve. Brock tore his elbow ligaments in the nfc championship game and needed tommy John surgery(which is a major injury and surgery that he bounced back great from). Purdy definitely has more talent around him, but if you watched game, love’s receivers had much more separation(niners dbs slipping multiple times) and his oline played much better. purdy was under constant pressure, love wasn’t as much so. Also on purdys game winning drive, he was throwing to guys like Chris Conley and jujuan Jennings. People just lazily throw out his good talent, and don’t watch objectivity. Shanny shipped trey off knowing they gave up 3 1st rd picks for him BECAUSE he believed in Brock. Purdy is actually saving Kyle, imagine trey blew and they had no1 to turn to??? Would be an epic failure, instead they are in their 2nd in a row nfcg despite a major qb draft miss. You make some fair points though, and I appreciate the gl

Purdy won’t be able to win the media over. All year they wanted to see him lead his team down the field for the win (which he had already done against Cleveland but moody shitted on it) and then he finally does it and it doesn’t matter because he didn’t look good earlier in the game. The issue is that if he looks good throughout the game there will be no comeback because the niners will be destroying the other team, we’ve seen it 10+ times this year. No way for the dude to win them over.
