I'm getting the feeling we can add Lamar Jackson the already crowned (for some reason) MVP to the list of great QB who never won a title like Dan Marino.
Many would argue that taking out SB wins Dan Marino without question was the best QB to ever lace up in the NFL even over Patrick Mahomes. That is huge but accurate if you don't believe it go watch some tape. Yet Dan with all that talent never won a Superbowl title.
Enter Lamar Jackson who has elite scramble and rushing capabilities along with excellent and improving passing. This year he basically had a dream team of top Defense and so many weapons on his offense there was literally always someone open to pass to on every play. Oh let's not forget multiple elite to great running backs.
Yet with all that he like Dan Marino just cannot get the job done in the playoffs.
Lamar Jackson will never win a SB title. He will have tons of highlights and fantastic victories in his future but will never get the trophy or ring. In the next year or two his running game will vanish due to age and wear n tear. At that point he most likely will be out of the league quickly.
Shame but those are the breaks. I question whether he will get into the hall of fame at this point.

Back when the CONTACT sport of the NFL allowed qbs to actually GET HIT.......
Marino played with a military flack jacket and metal braces on each knee for most of his career.
The defense knew EXACTLY where he would be at the start and end of every play.
The best he could do was to develop his incredibly quick release WITH minimal motion and superior arm strength. Also read defenses and was mentally in tandem with his two talented wide outs.
Kids don't know.

Is comparing marino to mahomes not disrespectful to mahomes. Marino had a 59% completion percentage over his career led the league in ints one year and was 8-10 in the playoffs no rings. Numbers that far pale in comparison to mahomes.

My comp was between Mahomes and Marino not Marino and Jackson if you cared to read my eloquent piece. My point on Marino and Jackson both being highly talented (Jackson will have 2 MVP awards) while never winning a SB is valid. I also state he will never be in the HOF due to being out of the league within a couple of years due to losing his running abilities. All facts.
Can't back-pedal now. Thread title is locked: Llamar is the next Marino. All you said about Mahomes is that Marino was better than him. Take the L

Lamar will be 10x better by the end of his career. Already 2X MVP. All he needs is one Super Bowl and all of these cowards will eat shit. Matter of WHEN.

if he got injured today I think he would be HOF. Imagine a 2 time mvp in any sport not being in HOF. Besides Jackson's w/l record is like 5th all time not to mention his uniqueness at the position. He's a shoe in. My personal HOF would be hard to get in only reserved for mythicla legends.

I agree he’s unlikely to win a title. Too many commentators discuss championship windows and just avoid discussing or gloss over the cost of the quarterback. Lamar kicks up significantly next year to a 32.4 mill cap hit and it just rapidly goes up every year after. The talent around him will deteriorate and the probability of him winning will continue to decline. Same goes for all of the guys that have signed massive contracts. Mahomes has managed to fight against this but he’s the only one. I believe he set the record last year for winning the Super Bowl with the highest QB cap hit to ever do it. He’s more expensive this year and rapidly increases as well, if he wins this year it will be the most impressive thing he’s ever done.

They were heads and shoulders better than everyone they played this year besides for one bad game they played. This is an ELITE organization who drafts better than 90% of the league. Lamar just now entering his prime. His cap goes up but Rodgers reconstructed…I believe Mahomes did as well…these guys who really want to win it will make sacrifices. It’s a matter of time. Lamar is a top 5 player in nfl history…he’s gonna win a Super Bowl. Guaranteed. I couldn’t be more sure. 10000000% chance he wins it eventually.

Plus one thing that isn’t being taken into account is Lamar wins 75% of his games in his career lol…. He will be back in the afc champ game very very soon and yall will be holding your breath again. I KNOW he will be back. And I KNOW he will eventually win it. Love how I’m the only mother fucker still saying it.

Marino was one of the greatest QBs of all time. Lamar is a better passer than he gets credit for being but there is no reality in which he compares to Dan Marino.
TIME TO BRING BACK THE OBAMA CAGES!

He wasn’t the MVP this year and yesterday showed it. Too bad playoffs isn’t taken into account.

Once again I compared Marino to Mahomes. The only comparison I had for Jackson was being elite (multiple MVP's) and not winning a title. All my takes were very hot and cannot be disputed. Including my hottest take that Jackson will lose his legs due to wear and tear in the next couple of seasons and be quickly exited from the league.
He is a choke artist and how the HELL can you win an MVP as a Raven and lose two games to the Steelers. That is the worst thing imaginable to do as a Raven to their fans.

Marino is one of the most accurate passer's of all time and also one of the slowest. Pure pocket passer. Lamar and Dan have nothing in common. You take away Lamar's legs and he becomes an average NFL QB at best. What's going to happen to Lamar as he ages and his legs become less of a weapon? There are hundreds of QB's who did not win a title during their career.
