ND defense is very solid, but you are still confused like the OP about actual stats/facts……OSU has the best defense in the nation statewise.  So if you were to make your bet based on your logic of “defense wins the game”, technically you should be taking OSU

The Lions had terrible injury luck all year on D.

Not to mention that safety Brian Branch was taken out of the game multiple times throughout the game. His backup #40 had only 1 snap on defense all year prior.
