MNF PATRIOTS @ SAINTS IN-GAME ***EARLY***

This is definitely the best Monday night game of the season. Record wise a loss doesn't really kill anybody but a win for both of these teams and the AFC East is virtually locked up. For the Saints a win means home field throughout in the NFC is virtually locked up considering the remaining schedule and possibly 16-0.

Some interesting things in this game as we have one of the best home field advantages on a Monday night a team/stadium has to offer with the Saints.

How will the Patriots who's pass rush been suspect at best all year long challenge this Saints offense? How will the Patriots keep this Saints offense off the field when they have a pass first offense themselves and passing first is when the offense is at it's best?

Some question marks for the Saints the past few years have been special teams and defense. Granted everybody thinks this defense has improved and maybe they have but I just don't see them being a good STOP UNIT. I use the word STOP UNIT because I just don't think they can stop a team man on man or a high caliber offense like the Patriots and like what they will see in the Playoffs. I think they have improved because they cause turnovers and create some pressure but I think their still supper vulnerable. Granted the interceptions that get usually are returned for scores or set up Bree's and the offense in + territory  and that is great but what happens when you face Brady and this offense who rarely turns it over and gives you those opportunities? This is the same team that without some defensive scores could of lost to a Dolphins team or a Jets team from this very same AFC East division.

If you are capping a game right off the bat if your on the Saints the line must scare the piss out of you. It's a pretty known fact 3 points are factored in for the home team so when you see a line of -1 Vegas is telling you their numbers have the Patriots as the better team on a neutral field.

I'd like to have some thoughts and discussions going from this point up until game time. Hopefully you boys comply. Good luck with whoever you chose.

Patriots...

Can't argue with the Patriots coaching but I think the Saints have some solid coaches roaming the sidelines. One of the best offensive minds in the game. Greg Williams is a damn good defensive mind too. I would say the line indicates the Patriots being a smart play. I just think it's tough to beat the Saints without a pass rush. No matter what the Patriots do on offense they can't win without a pass rush on Bree's.

How do they get one?

I thing what Vegas is saying is that NE is the best team in the NFL?
Am I getting that impression right?

Vegas is saying that definitely..

+1.5 to the colts in INDY .. +1 to the saints in NO.. they would probably be +2 - +2.5 in MINNY.. the pats are great but this is one time I will definitely play the home team.. if this is the superbowl.. the pats will beat the saints by 10+.. but tonight Drew brees will torch em and the saints will get timely turnovers.

 

MY OPINION.

Funny you say that because when I saw the line I looked at it with this face   and said to myself "Is Vegas telling me their numbers have the Patriots as the best team in the NFL"

It's extremely possible, I don't need to look at a record to say the Patriots are 1 of the top 4 teams in this league.

Over 50,5 pass completions is a good bet with brady and brees on the field. What do you think guys ?

Going into Super Bowl XXXVI the St. Louis Rams averaged 31 pts/gm (reg season) and Belichick's Pats held them to 17 pts.  He used the same defensive game plan that he used in Super Bowl XXV, I think, in which the DBs sit back and punish the receivers after the catch. It's a game plan that makes it hard to defend the run, but it demoralizes the receivers in the long run - no yards after catch.  I wonder if he's tempted to dust off that old defensive game plan.  I think it would be a mistake against the Saints because if they recognize that's what the Pats are trying to do, they'll run run run. Anyway, food for thought.

The problem I have is A: The ONLY team that the Pats have beaten on the road this year is the Tampa Bay Bucs.

No I don't want to hear about the Indy game because if Brady had made it you would all think Belichick a genius albeit lucky.

The bottom line is when it mattered on the road against a Top Tier team (Indy that is decimated on defense with injuries and Pop Warner Play at times.) the Pats could not get 1 yard, nor could they stop Indy from scoring.

That one play exposed the N.E. offense on the road and the subsequent plays exposed the defense.

Saints win by 1 yard.    GL to all     

 

Comparing this yr's defense to the Pats SB defense is a dis-respect to the previous Pats defense.

We are talking about Bruschi, Seymour, Harrison, Law...OMG, are you kidding me?

Billy can use all the SB scheme he wants,,,he still need players to execute the plan - and it appears they are not doing that at all.

There's no doubt Billy is one of the best coach in the game today, but it's also obvious NE is rebuilding on defense. Brady and offense can't do it alone.

Having said that, Pats are still a very dangerous team, I just hope NE doesn't get the ball on the final drive for a win.

I think the idea was there discussing what Bill did in the previous superbowls but that is the difference with this Saints offense this year. They have a plethora of running backs in Bell and the Frenchy. They have been great all year long and as much as Bree's tosses it around they park they have very much been a two dimensional offense.
