Risking 2 units to get back 8.5. Look for more division props from me throughout the week. NY gets crowned this year as champs
As a lifelong Giants fan I have to disagree. To me they are clearly the 3rd best team in the division at best. The D is overrated, Giants were fortunate last year to play a bunch of backup QBs and terrible starters. They don't have a pass rush either.
OL is horrible, and Daniel Jones might be one of the 5 worst starting QBs in the league.
Finally, and most importantly, the coaching staff and management team might be the worst in the league. Gettleman is clueless and Jason Garrett is running the offence with what can best be described as a 1990's era philosophy that is far too reliant on first and second down runs. Giants were near the top of the league in neutral game script runs and also run % when playing from behind. This was without Saquan for most of the year too. This team is so far behind others from an analytical standpoint they aren't even playing the same game.
The other teams in the division definitely have flaws as well but the Cowboys and WFT should easily beat them over the course of a season.

Hey Bud...I'm also a lifelong Giants fan. Last year was Jason Garrett's first in a long time back with the Giants. I'm not a big fan, but my memories are of his time in Dallas, which didn't impress. He doesn't have to worry about calling plays and HC duties, and having Jerry's binoculars drilling the back of his head every week any more lol. And the Giants O line was pretty bad before he got to the Meadowlands.
Checking 2020 stats at teamrankings.com the Giants ran on 1st Down 30% of the time; Dallas 31%, WFT 33%, Philly 34%. The Ravens were tops running the rock on first down at 51%.
Giants were 18th/32 in 1st Down rushing; pretty much the middle of the pack, not near the top. The Giants overall rush percentage was 41% which, again, put them in the middle of the pack at 17th/32.
The Giants were 19th in rushing yds in 2020; Philly was 9th, Dallas 17th, WFT 26th.
Rushing yds per game in 2020: Philly 126, Dallas 111, Giants 110, WFT 99.
Giants rushed for 1,768 yds and 13 TDs in 2020. Dallas rushed for 1,788 and 14 TDs (on 31 more attempts).
WFT rushed for 1,611 yds and 18 TDs. Philly rushed for 2,027 and 16 TDs.
Total Defensive Yds allowed 2020: WFT 4,873...Giants 5,589...Philly 5,810...Dallas 6,183.
Winning the Division is all that matters to start the re-building process.
Danny Jones...I already defended my boy in another post. He might "suck" and be "a turnover machine", as one poster put it in that other post, but after two years so were Elway, Aikman, and Manning if stats matter to your argument. Being a lifelong Giants fan as you are, I just wonder why you wanna crush the young man who we all know is behind a crap O line? It took quite a while before Bill Parcells got the Giants 2 Super Bowl wins, but we can't allow Joe Judge and his staff a little time to re-build?
If you wanna argue the Giants are still playing stone age football, bud, you might need to back up your assertions with numbers. If you wanna have an opinion, that's cool because we're all entitled to our opinions. Either way...have a great 2021 season!
Cheers

@DB51daBEARS
It's all about context. In the first half Giants had 4th highest run rate in the league on early downs at 51%. Only Ravens, Titans and Pat's had a higher rate. Elite OL and running scheme with the first two and running QB for the latter. Giants do not fit a run heavy scheme. When facing an 8 man box, they ran the ball 70% of the time in the first 3 quarters. You would think at halftime they would adjust but they didn't, and in the 3rd quarter they ran the ball at a top 10 rate despite being in the lead at halftime for 5 games all season.
So when you look at the numbers overall it might seem normal, but based on game situations they run it into 8 man boxes and dont adjust to the defence and they also stick to running when losing.

3 games in the first 14 days for the Giants. Broncos with their d-line and then Thursday nighter against WFT, nightmare start if O-line isn't up to speed and Barkley isn't 100%. Kenny Golladay already on record as saying that this team will probably start slow, you never hear that from a prized free agent signing.

What concerns me about Jones too is that he still can't hold onto the ball. Turnover machine. Also he looks extremely uncomfortable doing play action under centre. He cannot turn his back on the d for a split second and then make a good decision. Only way to play action successfully with him is under shotgun which Garrett doesn't do often. Probably my favourite analyst for breaking down teams is Warren Sharp and he noticed the same thing and has been all over the Giants for not addressing their issues. I agree that Jones isn't a finished product, it's as much the system as him but they arent playing to his strengths either.

I'm not saying I don't believe you, bud...but if you would tell me where you got those stats I would appreciate it.
For example, you say...When facing an 8 man box, they ran the ball 70% of the time in the first 3 quarters.
Could you let us know how many times they did that? 15 times...20 times? Big sample compared to the league total? Average sample compared to the league total?
How many other teams ran the ball 70% or more facing a 8 man box?
Gotta assume it was 3rd and short, or occasionally 3rd and goal? What percentage does the NFL run the ball 3rd and short? I would think a lot, no?
Any website(s) you might have used to get those stats would be appreciated. Thanks, bud !!!
Phew...gotta say, Gee_Gee...I'm glad WE AGREE that Jones isn't a finished product. Played in 27 games/started 26 in his first two years. If he had a stamp on his helmet saying "finished product" I'd have to start rooting for the J-E-T-S Jets.
Cheers, bud

Hey DK...that would be my guess, too. In a DoubleUp4Life post maybe a month ago I have the Giants at 7-10.
I'm not a homer, but I am lifelong.

LOL MRusso...uh huh.
Tell ya what...and this IS NOT A CHALLENGE TO YOU, but I'll take Joe Judge over Urban Meyer in last man standing LMAO. Time will tell, as they say.
Cheers bud...all the best for the 2021 season

For a team with a QB and top OL pick on a rookie deal they are in such cap hell it is hilarious. Restructuring contracts to make it to the end. This is the Gettleman era folks. Spends like crazy every offseason and thinks he can field a competitive team without rebuilding or having the slightest understanding of modern football. But hey, they signed Kyle Rudolph at least.

Come on don't rub a loss in a guy's face 4 months later. He could say the same to you, only getting 9.5 on Washington yesterday when 10 was very easy to find.

I've been a Giants fan for over 30 years. Until they get rid of Gettleman then won't ever be good. Worst fukin GM I have ever seen in my life. It's a shame too cause they are wasting the prime years of Saquon Barkley with no OL or QB. Daniel Jones is not the answer. I said this back few years ago when they drafted him to wait until next year to get Justin Herbert.
