You realize, first of all, that 8 +9 IS 17? Do you mean go back to 16? I actually agree with that but the league is too greedy.
Your OT rule suggestion is moronic. A punt is a play that is just as valid as any ie: punting on 4th down is just as legal as passing, running and kicking, and just as legal on 1st down also. AND, you can actually punt on any down you want. Kicking is a totally valid way to advance the ball you just can't retain possession if you kick (unless the other team touches the ball first.) it's been that way since before your grandfather was born. So you cannot actually make a rule against that without changing the entire fabric of the game. It comes from the sport American football was borne out of - rugby. Teams could just punt on 3rd down then. You can't just remove punting altogether.
The London games have been a huge success. If you think not having eventual SB champs play there means anything then you're a special kind of stupid. First of all the Jags play there more than anyone lol and they don't typically send the top teams from the year before that's the main reason. Wembley Stadium had more fans for the Jags Pats than the Pats stadium can even hold.
I'm not surprised you haven't watched a soccer game, you probably have never left the country, probably don't even have a passport. I much prefer the US sports myself and agree that goalless draws are a joke but you're talking about the most popular sport worldwide. Unfortunately many Americans fail to experience or even realize that there is a big world outside the US, they think the US is the entire world. I grew up there also so you don't realize how bad the 'we're number one' brainwashing is till you are outside of it. But don't be like those simpletons. Grow up a bit and expand your horizons. one thing that's nice about a soccer game is you aren't hit with ads every 3 minutes, it's only at halftime and you can just do/watch something else for 20 minutes. Instead of having to sit through the same annoying commercials for boner pills and insurance, fast food and beer over and over.
And I dunno what rock you've been under but coaches can challenge many things, they actually experimented with letting them challenge PI related calls after that Saints playoff game a while ago, it was a reviewable play for a season. The bosses you are talking about decided not to keep doing it.

@NutinButtLove Are you a casual? 17 week schedule= 8 home 8=way 1 bye=17 week schedule
Have you been living under a rock? The NFL has an 18 week schedule. All teams play 17 games, with 1 week as a bye. They alternate years of having either 8 or 9 home games.
