Here's my take on how I feel both teams are going to approach the game:
Oakland: Still winless and even worse they are winless with a new coaching staff (usually new staffs try to take an aggressive approach early and set the tone). After an offensive debacle in being shutout Week 1 at home they actually moved the ball better last week but their only offensive TD came in the 3rd quarter from a 2nd string RB. Their offense suffered the same problems as Week 1, they committed 3 turnovers and were a debacle in the red zone. They have not executed one quality drive yet with the first teamers. Their defense has been better than many expected though. I think the Radiers take this game very seriously and try to come out and execute against a quality opponent. They do have some injuries but sometimes teams can overcome that when they face an opponent who may not care.
Detroit: This team lost it's preseason opener though had a nice lead until the 3rd and 4th stringers blew it in the 2nd half. Last week the Lions looked outstanding and not only that they did it against a good team and on national TV. The offense moved the ball up and down the field against the vaunted Ravens 1st stringers (over 500 yards) and the defense did not not allow a TD and only 1 trip to the redzone. Stafford and Johnson picked up where they left off last year and the whole team looks in midseason form. This is a playoff team from last year that is ready for the regular season right now. What the heck are they really going to get out of a game way over on the west coast against the Raiders that they didn't get out of smacking around a far better team on their own field last week? If I'm a Lion I know I'm ready for the year and am just praying I don't get hurt in this one.
So which team is actually going to care about this game?

Type of situation where I'm getting the far, far better defensive team at home cheap and in as much of a "play on" for a team as you'll see in the preseason after two absolute debacles. Say what you want about the Jets offense but they still have a Top 5 D and at home in a night game this is where they can contain Cam and co. Panthers defense is dogshit and this just might be what the doctor ordered for the Jets offense after two games against Bengals and Giants stop units that are far better than what Carolina will bring on Sunday night.
