Simple: I am sure everyone has seen the video regarding the conspiracy theory regarding the topic of this thread. I am just curious where everyone thoughts are on this.
I for one think they do, from time to time (not always), aim to get favorable match-ups to maximize TV revenue.
Of course the only way is to use the referees. I know I'm not the only one who sees plays that are 100% incorrectly called. Consistently in a game to favor one team. Not just this season either.
Keep in mind I am not going with the Vegas pull here - that's another question all together. But that is another one worth mentioning too. It seems that the vast majority of the time when Vegas is exposed they "get their way" on the scoreboard. No?
Remember this too: Tim Donaghy, ex-NBA referee. Did time in prison for fixing games. He has since wrote a book & has a sports handicapping service with other ex-referees @ refpicks dot com
Thoughts Anyone?

No doubt in my mind, only a fool would think its all on the up and up, however, the only thing I saw in that video that was blatantly missed was the atrocious call for the personal foul. Other than that and the first down call, I. Personally didnt think it was rigged but money dictates such things, so who knows.

I feel dumb for not knowing what video you are referring to. Please post the link. But in regards to the nfl or other leagues "steering" games, you have to be extremely naive to think they don't. There is a lot more money to be made than be fixing a game for a payoff.

It wouldn't surprise me if some games were fixed, but really couldn't care less. If they do "steer" games, I just want to be on the right side, regardless.

As for the other comments... I am not asking this question as a fan of any team, just as a sports bettor. This does happen quite often year after year... and the NFC Championship game of SF vs SEA just highlights it quite a bit.
- Not quite sure WTF "OneBloodyBJ" is referencing.
- And "Mafiso" there are a lot more calls that were missed that effected the outcome of that game. (e.g. the non-call on the intentional grounding that lead to a SEA FG before halftime. That never should have happened & I could go on.)
- "JW" I am also mostly referring to the league lining their pockets with advertising revenue. Not so much the "CYA" aspect that the Vegas thought brings. That is quite a bit less likely, but it is odd they come out on the good side more often than not in games that are upsets.
- Yes, "Raven", I agree. I just want to be on the "right side" too. I've just never thought of this angle quite so much until now. Not sure about how I feel regarding it. Hence, this thread.
- as for "BigDummy", just shut up... this discussion is not about the loss for SF but about the crap the league IS PULLING. Weather you choose to believe it or not I DO NOT CARE. So eff off.
Anyway... my "guess" would be to keep an eye on the market size/ current record for teams at the time they match-up with other rivals or high-profile teams & keep track of the schedule regarding upcoming "marquee" games & most likely steer clear of them or I suppose take a chance & go with the "direction" that most likely favors the league the most.
Yes/ No/ Maybe/ Crazy... ???

If all it takes is some youtube videos to convince you that the NFL steers its games, or you take everything you see on the internet as definite facts, PM me and I have a nice bridge to sell you also. It's in great condition!
