Seattle had no problem scoring on the Patriots in Foxboro and their offense sucked
The Seattle game was an anomaly. Patriots played better than Seattle that game look at ALL stats below. Patriots lost that game due to fluke turnovers. Brady threw an interception, ONE of ONLY 2 interceptions he had thrown all year. Patriots fumbled the ball 3 times. That is why Seattle was able to win. Baldwin had 3 TD's, do you know how many receiving yards he had? 59 that's it. It wasn't a star studded performance by the Seattle offense, it was a perfect storm of errors by the Patriots that had been unseen the entire season. If you are banking on a perfect storm for Atlanta to crack 30 points you better start praying.

Keep cherry picking games where the Patriots gave up the most points all season due to teams with stout defenses causing turnovers via interceptions and fumbles and people will continue to ignore you since there is ZERO correlation between those teams and Atlanta given their severe lack of defense and being last in the league when it comes to opponent RZ Efficiency.

And you just opened a jar full of secret stats that you say - wow, how no one sees that last year's Broncos had a great defense... Great defense????? Are you fricking kidding me? And is that why vthe Seahawks had even greater defense defeating the Brioncos two years ago? And the Pats must have had such GREAT defense to be able to intercept a TD pass to win a Super Bowl. Of course - that is a super duper defense, one that SPECIALIZES intercepting the TD passes only.

If you are correctly going to analyze either defense one would need to look at the garbage yards and points when a team has a 3 or 4 score lead and remove them from your analytics. An example; Falcons were up 38-13 at the end of the 3rd qtr vs the Saints on Jan 1st. Brees was limited to less than 140 yds passing at this point. In the 4th qtr the Saints scored 19 pts and Brees threw for over 200+ yds. Bad defense or just putting your defense in a soft zone to run out the qtr? This was also the case vs the Panthers, Broncos, Bucs, Rams and to a large extent the Seahawks and Packers in the playoffs.
If you are going to be smart about analyzing the defense for either team you must account for this our you could be on the wrong side of the bet come Sunday. My point, one cannot just look at the game score and properly deduct that they allowed a 7-9 team to put up 32 points, when the final score does not tell the true story. This defense did give up points this season but if you take away the "garbage" points after a late 3-4 score lead, it certainly gets you closer to the true measure of their defense. Be careful falling in love with the shiney paint as there is more than likely a little rust somewhere.
