Two weeks in a row the public has won and won big. At what point will the dogs start to bark again? Scary week and I’m treading lightly but this is the one game where I feel pretty good about the handicap and the side.
The Eagles come off of a dominating divisional win, prime for a let down spot here against the Bengals. We know the Bengals haven’t been playing well and tend to rise and fall to the level of their competition. They were lucky to beat the Giants and even let the lowly Browns hang around. Now, we get them as a home favorite of 2.5 and the line can’t seem to touch 3.
I like the Bengals in this spot for multiple reasons. The main being the their offense vs this very suspect Eagles defense. The Eagles secondary just isn’t good. Slay is aging and it shows. They lack depth in the secondary, and don’t tell me that Quinyon Mitchell is going to guard Higgins and Chase. I look for Burrow to have an easy day picking apart this defense and especially the secondary.
on the flip side, Eagles have major injuries on the O line. RG Becton is out and LT Jordan Maliata is on IR. His replacement gives up a high pass rush rate of 26% and he’s going up against Trey Hendricks and Sam Hubbard who are going to get to Hurts early and often. Lou Anorumo loves to dial up the blitz and we know Jalen Hurts struggled with that last year. I really think the Bengals defense shows up for this game and puts forth a maximum effort to get the Bengals to 4-4 on the year and back in the divisional race.

Good morning gentleman.

I really "think" the Bengals defense shows up for this game and puts forth a maximum effort to get the Bengals to 4-4 on the year and back in the divisional race.
Do you have any data to quantify your thought?

When I read your posts I recognized them immediately. They were my posts from 20+ years ago when I "thought" I knew what I was doing. I can say from experience the way you're handicapping games is not going to work. You won't listen to me and I get it but I'm trying to help. You have to take a much broader view of the matchup at hand than simply saying this offense is going to pick apart this defense. If only it were that easy.
