Poor sportsmanship or a conspiracy?

Was Vikes not going for the extra point a case of poor sportsmanship or was there something more nefarious at work?

It's the standard in those situations.   You don't want to risk injury.   No one kicks it in that spot.   (And if the TD made it a 1 or 2 point game, there would also be the possibility of blocking the kick and running it back for 2 points, so you would DEFINITELY not kick then).

The college rule is that you don't even run the play if it doesn't affect the game.   I don't know why the NFL is different.

The NFL doesn't make you kick an extra point after you win on a TD in overtime.

It's actually good sportsmanship. There is nothing to be gained and even though there is an incredibly low possibility the kicker could get injured. 0 is a better percentage.

That said, since all the Saints were in the locker room, they could have walked in a 2 pointer. The most famous being Patriots / Bills, easily one of the greatest gambling miracle/moose ever.

It would have been poor sportsmanship to kick the extra point. Similar to NBA when a team is up 30 points and winning team doesn't shoot the three pointer with 1 second left.  Shows they 
don't consider the gambling spread.  I seen in NBA where the 
player did shoot the unnecessary three and the commentators expressed their strong dislike of it.

you wrong 100% not kick that xtra point because don't want minn to cover 5.5..also not kick that xtra point just incase Nor block and catch the ball and run all the way back for touchdown. you  don't know shiittt about games.just stop.

The above might be one of the most uninformed posts I have ever read....who doesn’t want Minny to cover 5.5?? Also, a  blocked XP that is returned counts for 2 POINTS not 6...learn the rules of football before you bash a quality poster such as PDouble

This is not the norm... I also have not seen this before until this season.... you will all remember the Redskins vs Chiefs game... chiefs scored with 0 on the clock on a lateral pass fumble and they did kick the extra point... not so meaningless because that point if i remember correctly killed the under... why kick it im that situation and nit in these other.games unless the outcome favors somebody...

In the regular season points affect the 'tie-breaker' senarios.

Yeah CP3 did that last week that made them cover the spread and lillard wasn't too happy about that.

No team would kick the XP in this situation.  98% of teams take a knee and the other 2% would run a play.
