The Raiders under season total continues to creep higher. Started at 5.5 and now some shops have u6 @ +105.
This looks like an opportunity. The Raiders have some decent individual talent but not an entire team full and no bench which will produce more than 4-5 wins at best. Lat Murray, Amari and Carr need be everything raider nation thinks they can be to have any shot at loosing an under 6 wager. Even with that they have huge holes. RT Watson went down last night with next to nothing on the bench to replace him.
Defense isn't as good as they looked last night against that soft red bird line. Again, individual talent with issues on a whole.
Very few games you can circle as a W. Some soft games against the bears, browns and titans but they are all on the road. Jets and vikes (not so soft) at home. No way they win all 5, maybe 3. Toss in a W against either SD or Kc and that's it.
Paper losses at home against the bengals, ravens, broncos, pack and 1 of kc/sd/min
Away they loose all 3 div games, pitt and lions.
That's 10 losses as a worst case sceniro. No way they win all of the other coin flip games.
I'm all over the under.
What am I missing.

I actually think the Raiders plus 5.5 is a great bet with lots of value. Raiders 1st team defense against the Cards 1st team offense looked very good. They held this team and Palmer (which was dominant last year) to 3 points. Mack is an absolute best and he looks like he has the chance to be something very special. ESPN just named him number one on the top 25 under 25. Linebackers Lofton and Smith are upgrades to some really bad linebackers from last year. CBs they are very thin. Any injury there will be a big problem for this team.
On offense Carr hasn't looked both average to above average and really bad (against the Cards). But his wideouts are better and Crabtree and Cooper will do well this year. Preseason they made it a point to throw to Cooper. In practice Crabtree has been blowing up. In fact their top three wideouts weren't on the team last year as Streater broke his foot in game one and he MIGHT be the third string wideout. That group is much much better. Carr also is a workaholic. They doesn't translate into greatness but the kids shows up at 5am before the coaches. He will grow a lot this year.
Offensive line was thought to be very good on the left side anchored by probowl center Hudson. Watson going down is something to take note of. Austin Howard is supposed to be serviceable at worst and he was given a big contract last year. What the game against the Seahawks showed last night was that their reserves suck. Any more injuries on that line and they will be in trouble. Against the Seahawks they only played one starter. Seawhawks had their starters play on both sides.
Finally Murray looks like he might be something special.
Above all else Raiders have a revamped coaching staff led by Jack Del Rio and Ken Norton Jr. The guys over there are believing in the system. Dennis Allan was a fall guy brought into the organization while the team was unwinding from salary cap hell. Raiders went 0-4 last year with him. Fired him and lost another 6 games in a row. They finished the season 3-3 beating 3 teams that were on the bubble of making the playoffs.
Looking at the schedule Browns, Bears, Jets, Titans are all very winnable games. They should split games between chargers (barely lost both games last year) and Chiefs (they split last year). I honesty believe the Raiders have a shot at beating the Bengals in the home opener as well. Bengals are a better team but the crowd will be loud and the Raiders will be playing like it is their super bowl.
My money is with my mouth. Double down on everything in a big BIG way.
I am a homer. I love the Raiders. But I haven't been excited about them since Hue Jackson was the coach and Mcfadden started the year looking like a beast. They went 8-8 that year.

I've been a raider fan for more than 4 decades. Yes the browns, bears and titans are all games they can win. Unfortunately they're all on the road which I don't see happening. I disagree on Howard, don't see much.
Bengals are a stout team with a good bench.
Gl with your bet.

I could definitely see hundreds of thousands of ML parlays getting destroyed week 1 by them raiders.
I think they play in much closer games this year, and not so many blow out losses like last year.
The ceiling for this team in the next year or 2 is extremely high. Carr and Cooper have the potential to be a deadly combo for years to come. We should see some glimpses this year I would think. That D looks good this pre season.
I'd give em 7 wins this yr if I was forced to bet it.

I like the Raiders this year to surprise.

All great input, thank you. I am clearly in the minority.
The public has been all raidered up the past 2 months. I just don't see why. The schedule, owner, crap baseball stadium, GM, team depth, offensive line, defensive backfield, and over anticipated expectations just don't add up.
Don't get me wrong i do like Norton Jr and del Rio is an improvement over the last Deer in the Headlights coach. Carr, Amari and Mack are solid. Hopefully Lat can be everything his size and speed can be and stay off the trainers table.

I don't see them winning 6 games.. they are playing the NFC and AFC Central and be lucky to only beat the Bears and Browns.. chalk up a 4 win season. They did play an excellent game to beat the Bills late last season.. can't see them doing that consistently

Good dialogue gents. T minus less than 7 days. First four games crucial. As to last year Raiders had the toughest schedule in the entire NFL. One home game in London. A rookie qb who didn't know he was starting until late in preseason. Bad coaching with a coaching change. Raiders to win 6 'feels' good with a much improved team. Season opener as a road dog plus 3 plus 110 has solid value. Let's touch base Sunday evening. Me and my wallet hope I'm right! Lol
