31.8 million. Looking for Ravens to be in SB. Moreover,NFL would love highest rating. In spite of no TS...lol. Playing SF or Det? I think Det would be great... probably very popular.

@fts1409
My theory is that the pop culture, marquee matchup in the Superbowl would be KC and SF. A rematch of Superbowl 54 that got high ratings.
A Baltimore and SF matchup would get great ratings too no doubt, but the Ravens blew them out not so long ago so it might not hold as big of an appeal.
Haven't locked in anything as yet myself.

The NFL DOES NOT CARE who is in the super bowl. The super bowl will be the highest rating program for the year, it is EVERY YEAR!!!! They don't care who's playing. The money has been spent already. All advertising spots have paid, 30 seconds for 3 million per spot, hotels are sold out, houses are rented out, rental cars are gone. People are going to have their parties, the Rich and famous are going to have their parties. And those people could care less who is actually playing in the super bowl. I don't know why you people think it's so important to have a certain team in the super bowl. It's going to be the highest TV rating of the year just like it is every year

Wow, I wanted to jump your claim that all ad spots are prepaid, but you are 100% correct. I just never thought of it as being totally prepaid a half year in advance. DUH on me. The only thing you may be off on is that it seems that the most 30 second spots are between 6 and 7 million a plug this year. About 20 years ago, my company used to joke about blowing a million bucks for one ( 30 second) SB slot , and if it would be worth it.
Good info, txs.

You mean the Ravens - Texans game? Hard to believe a game involving the Texans, on a Saturday afternoon, was the most watched in NFL history. You'd think Bills - Chiefs would on a Sunday night would draw a bigger audience.

The Las Vegas casino owners do care as a Ravens/Lions for example, wouldn't generate as much money as say a KC/SF matchup. I don't picture great numbers of Marylanders and Michiganders flying out to Vegas for the game and laying down their hard earned. Even a Balt/SF matchup might be a little blah considering that the Ravens blew the 49ers out not so long ago.
With a California team in there versus KC, it will be no problem filling up the massive hotels, table games, and restaurants. Las Vegas was originally funded by Californians over the years. They still don't have sports' gambling and the general (once a year) betting public doesn't have access to bookies.
As far as ratings, I agree that the Bowl is an event that garners interest no matter who is in it though a KC/SF might be a pop culture mega-hit IMO for obvious reasons.
A side narrative being, will Mr. Pfizer find true love with an overrated bimbo whose best days are behind her and who is no longer the cutest thang in shoe leather.

And gambling. How could I forget that ? This SB will probably be the heavily wagered in history. Wonder if ESPNBet is influencing their on air folks dialogue and picks ??? Laura R and Sam P would certainly influence my dialogue...Smiling thinking bout Namath trying to kiss Suzie Kobler that time.

The Bills Chiefs was the most watched NFL game ever (I believe outside of the superbowl). I haven't looked it up to verify but one of the morning sports talk shows on ESPN or FS1 said it had over 50 million viewers.
I agree with the dude above, its always gonna have amazing ratings but if you wanted to bet on which matchup would draw the most views I'd go SF vs KC as well given the swifties and the fact that the niners have a bigger fan base than Detroit and I think more people enjoy watching them play. Least viewed would likely be Bal vs Det but we're prolly splitting hairs because it would be massively viewed either way.

Had to look it up, was most watched for a WC or divisional round game:
"The Sunday primetime game on CBS between the Chiefs and Bills averaged 50.4 million viewers, the most-watched Divisional or Wild Card game on record."
