Step one would be to make every call reviewable. Not to have more coach reviews in-game, but simply to make everything reviewable. Clearly, the officials didn’t like the fact that pass interference became reviewable in 2019, and it didn’t take long for the NFL to take that back off the table. But judgment calls should be reviewable, whether the refs like it or not. We should be past the “human element” argument.

Speaking of the human element, the NFL now has player tracking and technology on the field to an amazing degree. Why are we still subject to the whims of a bunch of guys on the field and in New York City, deciding whether this or that player is in or out of bounds, or whether this or that player scored a touchdown or not?

We are seeing far more pool reporters interviewing officials and Anderson after games, which tells you something right there. But why aren’t officials holding post-game press conferences to answer questions from all reporters, just like coaches and players are? As they have certainly proven this season, officials can be as important to the final result as coaches and players can be.

The NFL tells us that it grades every official after every game, though you’d be hard-pressed to believe it based on some of the playoff and Super Bowl assignments we’ve seen. Why aren’t those grades made public? Hiding officials from media scrums, and making their grades private when there are more player stats and grades than ever, doesn’t do a lot for accountability.

The NFL and the NFL Referees Association have reached a seven-year collective bargaining agreement that will run through May 31, 2026. The current deal was scheduled to expire in May of 2020.

The agreement was unanimously approved by the NFLRA Board of Directors and ratified by a vote of NFLRA membership earlier today.

“This agreement solidifies the working partnership between the league and officials toward the common goal of developing and training the best officials in the world,” said NFL Executive Vice President of Football Operations Troy Vincent. “We will continue working together to provide fans, players and coaches with officiating performance that meets the highest standards demanded by the game.”

The NFL-NFLRA CBA covers compensation and benefits issues and emphasizes efforts to train and develop world-class officials.

“It was a mutual and cooperative effort that took over a year and a half, and the outcome is seven years of certainty for the league and our officials,” said NFLRA Executive Director Scott Green. “We appreciate Troy Vincent and his staff for recognizing that working together to find solutions is the best course of action to reach a long-term agreement.”

NFLRA President Tony Steratore, in his 20th season as a game official in 2019, added:

“We see this new CBA as a partnership with the league that benefits our membership but also seeks to make our game better. We all must keep pace with the speed and skill of the players, not to mention the increased use of technology. It is good to get these negotiations behind us.”

I care, even though I have been cashing in latey. Just can't stomach the shady NFL these days. The games make me want to throw up and I feel sorry for all the sheep who think it's legit and are throwing there $ away. I look for the fix as much as possible. Just trying to warn the rookies on this board and my friends.

As far as TNF - I will most likely stay away from a pick on this game as I dont trust this will be a clean game called from the ref's as both teams are fighting for a playoff spot. Not sure who they want in?

Hammering picking against Washington the rest of the year though. It's obvious the NFL wants to f - Dan Snyder and the Commanders!

WAS has faced scrutiny for years. This is their recent ATS record:

2020 9-6-2, 60.0%

2021 7-9-1, 43.8%

2022 7-6-1, 53.8%

There is NO evidence that the NFL was/is trying to screw WAS. You know what you can do with your baseless conspiracy theories.

I am NOT a fan of the Commanders. Really dont care if they make the playoffs or not.

I could not be bothered to respost the video's but they speak for themselves. PI non call and FLAG thatthe ref could not wait to throw after Terry asked him if he was good at the line.

So the NFL got rid of Gruden, is in the process of booting out Dan Snyder but does little to nothing about the Dolphins scandal!

The jets have a much bigger fan base and huge market! The New York New Jersey market is the biggest in the country! The nfl would like both giants and jets to make playoffs. I’m thinking jets

This is the league and the officials who earlier this year let a game be decided by what a player SAID to another player.Remember the KC-Indy game earlier this year where Chris Jones sacked Matt Ryan on a 3rd down play in the 4th quarter which essentially ended the game.Essentially ended it,until a flag was thrown for something that Chris Jones supposedly SAID to Ryan while they were still laying on the turf.Which enabled the Colts to get a 1st down on the play,and eventually continue on with their game winning drive.Oh,and by the way 75% of the money was on KC in that game.The league or the officials have never stated what was supposedly said,even though after the game the officials said that would be in their weekly statement.How many times has that kind of penalty been called in the league before that play?Absolutely zero times.How many times has that penalty been called after that play,you guessed it,absolutely zero times.So now we have games decided by what 1 player SAYS to another player,could there be anything more subjective or based on a refs particular judgement,then a call based on something someone say's to somebody else.One official might be religious and flags a player for saying "Jesus f*ckin Christ your QB sucks",or another official has mother issues and doesn't like when a player says "You and your momma suck".You can't start calling penalties on what some official deems to be offensive,cause every official will have a different opinion of what he finds to be offensive.And to do it at the end of a game,and that helps decide who wins the game,that's complete bullsh*t,but that's the new NFL.

Interesting...

Eagles/wash game earlier this year...the result was effected by one of,if not, the worst roughing the passer call in league history....instead of punting , Washington got a 1st down and knelt 3 times and ended the game

The refs have insane influence over the direction and result of a game. Especially in the NFL and nba

For those of you who keep saying the league is not fixed or heavily manipulated by refs you either work for a book, the NFL or are willfully blind to this fact! Your just pissed off that people like us are sounding the alarm bells!!!

Look: NFL Referees Apparently Lied To Stadium Crowd (msn.com)

Early in Saturday night's matchup between the Miami Dolphins and Buffalo Bills, fans at Highmark Stadium launched snowballs down onto the field — sometimes in the direction of players and referees.

In response to this potential safety concern, officials came over the stadium speakers with a warning for fans.

The referee team threatened to give the Bills a 15-yard penalty if the snowball throwing continued to be an issue.

“We've just been informed that if a snowball hits someone, it'll be a 15-yard penalty against Buffalo," referee Bill Vinovich said over the speakers.

The broadcast team was confused by this announcement as the NFL does not have any rules regarding penalties for fan action.

According to Bills tight end Dawson Knox, the officials lied and made this announcement to calm the crowd down.

“Apparently, they told Coach McDermott or someone, 'Hey we can’t actually enforce that, we just have to say that for them to stop.' It was a just say it, to get them to calm down,'" Knox said, per Buffalo News Sports.

The snowball throwing subsided after this announcement, but the natural snow flurries picked up later in the game.

The Bills ultimately claimed a 32-29 win and clinched an AFC East title.
