Same thing that happens to all of it. He got old. Slower. His legs were some of his best weapons and he isn't as elusive anymore. He was always a mediocre arm (especially in the pocket). Denver didn't do their due diligence and Seattle made out like a bandit. Likely changed the fortunes of two franchises a la the Minnesota Vikings and Dallas Cowboys. With the three first round picks the Vikings gave to the Cowboys (for Hershel Walker) they drafted their triplets on offense and won Superbowls. The Vikings haven't been to the Superbowl since the 70s.

I trust Payton going Forward 

 I enjoyed watching him play for a few years, but I can see where other players would tire of his "rah-rah" action. It's certainly better than the other extreme of punkery or gangsta, but I'm sure it gets old.

 I don't know if he'd renegotiate his contract or retire. I can't see anyone picking him up for that amount, although I'm sure Denver would love if someone did.

 He’s going to sign a vet minimum deal with a new team and Denver will be on the hook to pay him 39 million lol seems like a good bridge guy for someone

 His supporting cast was special. Legion of Boom made Russ look better than he really was. As soon as he stopped moving around and buying time, his clock expired. He ends up in Pittsburgh, his wife will hate it but he could help them. They have playmakers on offense, 0 at qb position for quite sometime now.

It’s bad and he will be just fine.
