History has not been kind to those teams who score 500 or more points on the season. The 16 game season this points per game avg. is 31.25 ppg. With 17 games it moved to 29.41. Small sample size since we went to 17 games but of note there are a whopping 4 teams this year all over the 500 mark.
Lions, Bills, Ravens and Buccs all scored 500 or more total points. When looking at the 16 game average though only the Lions hit that mark. So in 16 games the other three teams would not have hit 500.
Here is the list since modern NFL realignment in 2002. ONLY the 2009 Saints won the SB under this criteria.
23 - Pokes
22 - No teams
21 - Pokes + Buccs
20 - Packers + Bills
19 - Ravens
18 - Chiefs + Rams + Saints
17 - No teams
16 - Falcons
15 - Panthers
14 - No teams
13 - Broncos (600!!)
12 - Patriots
11 - Packers
10 - Pats
09 - Saints (only team to win SB)
08 - No teams
07 - Pats
06 - No teams
05 - No teams
04 - Colts
03 - Chiefs
02 - Chiefs

Hmmm interesting find and good handicapping to dig this deep.
Seeing that you have most favorites in your search to win the Superbowl and your stats having them not makes me want to go and play a few bucks on some possible creeper team in this year's super bowl as you never know.
Please anybody but the Chiefs again.

I've never been a big person to look at points (runs) scored,... or points (runs) given up,... in any sports .......but point (run) "" differential "" . And the Lions win that in spades in Football.
