I'm a Panthers fan, and although I love what happened last year, our draft, and even with Kalil, I won't be happy until it actually happens.
I will say that as far as bold statements go, I think the Colts have a huge shot at being that surprise team. 7 of the Colts 14 losses were by a TD or less.
If Luck can be even 75% of what Newton was last year(He definitely can), then I think the Colts are a Darkhorse playoff contender.
Reason 1...4 games against the Jags and Titans.
Reason 2...Here are the Colts first 8 games
1) At Chicago 2) Home vs. Minnesota 3) Home vs. Jax 4) Home vs Green Bay 5) At the Jets 6) Home vs. Cleveland 7) @ Tennessee 8) Home v Miami
With a bad start and an obvious rookie/rebuilding situation, the Colts could EASILY start 1-7/2-6. However, if Luck shows flashes of brilliance much like Cam, the team starts to believe in him(Which they already do), and the Defense follows suit, they could easily start this season anywhere from 4-4 to 6-2.
Once again this is purely speculative. However, if Luck pans out well, the soft schedule could really help the Colts and their confidence out.

I don't know about 6-10, but do think the Cardinals will make the playoffs this year. The last time they finished an 8-8 season like this past one, they went to the Super Bowl the next year. Their D played great once they got used to Ray Horton's Pittsburgh system, their o-line is the best it's ever been, their WR/TE situation is a step up from last season. Big question marks are whether the RBs can stay healthy, as both appear to be prone to severe injuries. Everyone shits on the Cardinals, but everyone also forgets that they were only a handful of ridiculous plays away from 10-6 last season, as they gave up late drives to the Giants and Ravens (both losses occurred before the D truly learned Ray Horton's system).
