Doesn't this seem like a letdown spot for Houston? They finally won the division for the first time in franchise history, and they had to do it by winning in the last second last week on the road. Carolina has an exciting QB but they haven't really played all that well for most of the year. You would think the Texans win this one without too much difficulty, right?
The only thing that makes me think they don't have a letdown is the health issues of Wade Phillips -- maybe they rally around him. He's always been popular with his players.
Thoughts? I'm about to play CAR +6 unless you guys talk me out of it.

I think it's possible Car could cover, but I don't think they will. I don't have a strong opinion one way or the other ATS. I do like Hou on a teaser though, I feel very strongly about that...
Regardless of the fact that they did wrap up the division and could possibly have a letdown, or the fact that Def Co Phillips is on medical leave, it doesn't change the fact that they ARE a really good team with a kick-ass defense. None of that has changed whatsoever.

Bottom line, Cam is very consistently making way too many rookie mistakes and turning the ball over way too much. He makes great plays and scores points, but that is negated by the fact that he scores points for the other team too via turnovers.
Hou, in their house, might just make this game a celebration for their 1st ever clinched playoff berth and I'm quite certain that their fans will. Playing on the road with a raucous crowd is a big disadvantage in itself IMO. Add that the much better team is the home team...that makes putting money on Car a very risky proposition. Also, it's not like Hou has nothing to play for. HFA and a bye in the playoffs is a really big deal.

Texans will win and cover. This is in Reliant and the place will be rocking. Texans defense will take care of Cam and his wheels. After that, you just have a bad team left for Carolina.

Although I must say...texans have overcame alot of adversity but losing Phillips present on the field will have some effect regardless of what ppl may think. I know herring is more than capable but replacing Phillips as a coaching leader will have some effect. And this timing wasn't planned. It's unexpected. I would go further and saying losing Phillips is just as bad as losing kubiak as as the OC. Texans win but covering may be a tall order. Just my .02.

Making the playoffs is the big thing. Teams do also care about HFA....but not that much. IMO there are other factors that matter more when capping the game, like the letdown factor after qualifying for the postseason.

dog 3.5-7pts.. One team is good: 10-3, other team is crap: 4-9. One team with some playoff factor motivation (albeit not as strong as you correctly point out), the other team with no playoff factor motivation. Regardless, I love discussing NFL games and I wish you BOL on your play.

Coming from a Texans fan: They have Carolina, Indy, Tennessee left on schedule. Unfortunately i do not see them sweeping all 3. Out of these 3 Carolina has the best offense which puts up the most points. Add the fact that Wade Phillips will be M.I.A. I think our Defense has a let down this week after the high of clinching the division last week. THIS is a TRAP GAME. I would roll with Carolina. Just my 2cents.

Out of these 3 Carolina has the best offense which puts up the most points. Add the fact that Wade Phillips will be M.I.A. No harms my friend...I like them Texans ML but -6 is alot imo. Texans CAN win the division so the crap I threw out there are facts 99% of the time. Teams that are outside the bubble or a chance to get better seeded..esp., #1 will come to play. Texans can blowout Panthers, their run d is horrific but dealing with losing a DC is huge imo. This game is huge for Texans and they are going to win at home. If they were on the road, I would say they lose this game. Texans fans will be rocking...should be a good game.
Texans have alot to play for here...no letdown. If they lose..has nothing to do with them not putting out effort.
