This isn’t the NBA. You cannot call a timeout while play is in motion, ball is snapped. Coach can’t call a timeout.
Your QB has to know? recognize the amount of time left and get rid of that ball. Dirt it. Throw it away. Idiot

Its on the coach man. Its not Mahomes out there, this guy is a rookie. Coach shouldve called timeout immediately after the preceding play to set up their best play and then run up and spike if you get it

@ActionMagnet
Agreed, because Caleb was in no rush to get the ball snapped. No other adjective can explain what happened except for STUPID. Caleb and Eberflus are responsible. The coach should be fired after seeing Caleb not running the play in time, should have used his timeout with at least 12 seconds to go, set up the next play and try the FG with few seconds remaining

ultimate responsibility == coach
but, a QB w/better "game awareness" knows the situation, and had PLENTY of time to decide to stop clock n kick, or stop clock early (should have) run play, then run FG team on the field if needed..
terrible.
It cost me straight play on the OVER.. and a 5/1 play on the ML.. and had a 4tm par that'd still be alive, so yeah it cost me.
But, I don't think it'll help anyone by firing HC at this point of the season.. team is playing hard for him.
make any changes off-season.

@wmi799
I'd agree except for the timeout before that.
The play clock was at 1 and coach called the time out. Caleb mini freaked and gestured trust me.
That exchange caused what we saw. But still someone anyone should've called it at :12

should have called timeout with 30 seconds left after the sack. regrouped the team. setup a solid play that got them some yards to setup the field goal. even if they didnt get out of bounds, the FG team had plenty of time to run out there and kick it. that's on the coach 1000% with a rookie QB. if it's Mahomes, Allen, Brady, etc....then you could split the difference

From Josh Dubow AP
221 coaches have had 20+ career games decided by 7 points or fewer. Matt Eberflus' .227 win percentage in those games (5-17) ranks 221st

Pretty clear from the responses, from Caleb’s press conference and from every talking head that clock management in that situation is on the coaches. The post about taking the timeout at 32 seconds is correct
