The difference between a sharp and a square.

A sharp can give you advanced metrics that no one even understands, a point value to anything and prove over time they are better than a coin flip, a square will consistently miss a seven team parlay by 1 game.

Why did I read this

So a guy who is better than a coin flip is smarter than a guy hitting 86% of his plays?

Most sharps don't understand advanced metrics, they let computers do all the work, i.e. inputting data into a computer program doesn't make one smart.  The guy who wrote the program is the real winner.  He'll sell his platform to sharps.  Like the book, the computer nerd is the real winner.

 Long run MONEY MANAGEMENT is key to successful. 

This has a lot of truth to it.  Take it from someone who hires these guys.  Overpay the good ones, make sure they are happy.

I am not near smart enough to model what they bring to me.

A true "Sharp" doesn't play parlays. The Sharps will make sound bets, a square wants excitement. A Square will try a pass play on the one-yard line while a sharp will stick with the guy who runs the ball.
