The Heavyweights: these teams are just bigger, badder, faster, and stronger than everyone else. They can push you around in the trenches and dominate the line of scrimmage on offense and/or defense, and they can eviscerate you through air and land.
Lions, Eagles, Chiefs, Ravens
Light Heavyweights: these teams are good and usually have at least one unit (offense or defense) that can hang with the heavyweights but not both. They can beat the heavyweights if they catch them in the right scheduling spot, by turning them over, and by coaching, but they are not in the same class physically and athletically.
Bills, Steelers, Vikings, Packers, Chargers, Texans, Bengals, Niners (when healthy)
Lightweights: These teams have two mediocre, inconsistent units. They are easily pushed around and are often out of their league, with only a puncher’s chance of beating the other teams.
All other teams
Tonight we saw what happens when one of these heavyweights (Eagles) plays a lightweight team (Rams).
Tomorrow night we will see what happens when a heavyweight team plays a middleweight team in the same stadium.
