You see it every game, by every team. Would someone explain to me what "exactly" are these teams trying to accomplish when they play the good ole prevent defense? Because the only thing I see when they play the "prevent defense". Is the team scores. So I would like to know?? Is that what the goal is? To let the team score in 1 minute 20 seconds, 75 yds. Does anyone know what these teams are exactly trying to accomplish?? Please enlighten me. Lol

I'm trying to use my words wisely? Does anyone know exactly what these teams are trying to "prevent" when they are playing the "prevent defense"? Because all I see is the team scoring in one minute 20 seconds 75 yards. But every team does it, every game. Does anyone know? Anyone? Bueller? Anyone?

Mark my words. Cleveland is receiving the 2nd half kickoff. They will not, and I'm repeating, they will not, drive 70 yds, in 1 minute 20 seconds and score a touchdown. And guess why they aren't going to do this ?? Because Denver won't be playing the "prevent defense". Once again, does anyone know why these teams, and he's idiot coaches, play the prevent defense? Anyone???? Does anyone know???

Well, the over is a sure thing. The prevent defense I could never understand. Seems like the only thing they are preventing is less points on the board.

It PREVENTS ...Winning,,,,,I hate it, It doesnt work....
yes, you are exactly right. Because every team scores right before halftime and at the end of the game if it's close. So the 1 million question is? Why does every team, do it, in every game???? We all see it! Us football fans, we see it, we see what's going on right before halftime, and at the end of the game. So why? Why do they keep doing it??? Is there something going on in the NFL that's deep??

You see, there it is. I told you Cleveland wasn't going to score a touchdown in the second half in one minute and 20 seconds. That's because Denver wasn't playing the good old prevent defense

Dan Marino and Coach Shula Multiple Super Bowls...Shula was faithful to his "Prevent Defense" D Coord...andddd
Lost so many big games they were WAY UP....w/prevent defense...All the D backed way up 20-30 yards and let the opposition pick you apart....I want to BARF at the thought....

"Prevent Defenses" are quite foolish. Because the worst thing a Defense Coordinator ""should be"" thinking about is how much time the QB has in the pocket. But they don't think that way, They think of putting more men to defend the open field, but that is faulty logic. It is much better to add a pass rusher so the QB is not sitting on a Laz-b-boy recliner waiting for the next receiver to get open, potentially hitting that big game play
