Is there a more directly impactful/consequential penalty in any of the 4 pro sports worse than the NFL holding penalty? that can turn alter games in any which direction needed?
40 yard completion, yes!!! oh wait there's a yellow flag that's been thrown, it wont count plus we're adding 10 more yards to gain.
1st down! yes!!! oh wait there's a yellow flag thrown for what appears to be holding in the trenches.
It's the worst call/penalty of any sport by a wide margin. It directly impacts who will win or lose a game and the call should be reviewed.
Guy's grab and hold every down, every play. Unless it is blatantly egregious absolutely do not throw that fcuking flag. These bastards hold the outcome out games in their pocket literally with that 1 penalty that can conveniently be used anytime they want to.

Yea agreed, sometimes its a minor technical hold by the letter of the law, sometimes you cant even find the hold its a mystery. Sometimes you get holding on a 1 yd TD run which is absolutely bonkers.
It is crazy the power that the holding call has over games.

@ActionMagnet Often times too the play is gone or it had no impact.
This is what drives me crazy. The insignificant hold 30 yards away having nothing to do with the offensive outcome but it will come back. The rule is murder.

Was watching a college game this weekend (don't remember which one) and the visiting team was losing by a pretty good margin and had the ball. They executed a nice long run play to the left side for a sizeable gain on third down. Out comes the hanky and they call the offense for a chop block and when they showed the replay the guard on the right side away from the play had basically lost his balance and happened to fall near the legs of a defensive lineman, had zero impact on the play but the refs called it anyway.
