You don’t think he knew the total was 56 1/2? If you needed any more example sports is rigged...... the seas practically parted for Gurley to score and he said no mas. That idiot Joe Buck said Gurley was being unselfish. WTF??? A touchdown nails the game. Impossible for Rodgers to score 2 possessions in under 60 seconds and no timeouts. Only reason to do it is screw the 73 % that took the over.

Yes. The entire game was planned so this could happen.

It was 100% the right call for Gurley to take a knee and not score. Anyone who thinks otherwise doesn't understand football.
If Todd Gurley takes a knee the game is over. Right there and then. 100% chance the Rams win.
But if he scores the Rams go up 36 to 27. (Assuming a successful one-point conversion, which could get blocked and ran back for two points.) The Rams must kickoff. The Packers have the ball and Rodgers throws a Hail Mary or two and the Packers quickly score.
Rams 36, Packers 34.
They are successful in their upcoming onside kick attempt. Rodgers throws another Hail Mary or two, that either results in a touchdown or gets them close enough for a successful field goal. Packers win.
Yes, the odds of all three of these events happening (score, recover the kickoff, and then score again) are very, very long. But it is greater than 0%.
In summary, if Gurley scores you must give the ball back to the Packers. Why do that if you don't have to?
I once saw John Harbaugh chastise one of his players for scoring in a similar situation at the end of the game. The player said, "But Coach, I scored! Harbaugh replied, "You hurt our chances by scoring. We don't want you to score."

The worst part of it was mcvey not trying to score the touchdown in a fuckking 2 point game against a guy who has proven multiple times in his career to make miracle plays. I had the rams over 32.5 so in a way my glad they didn’t kick the field goal to make it 32. Very head scratching play calling first quarter, way too conservative against a great qb

folks, this guy is not this stupid. He just loves making stoopid posts to get attention. It's his shtick.
For the noobs:I had the Rams. Gurley 100% did the right thing. This is just another post in this thread spelling things out for a bunch of noobs who have no business betting on sports.
