I'm surprised Philadelphia didn't request to take the 15 yard unsportsmanlike conduct penalty on the kickoff last night instead of on the extra point. With the new kick rules this year could have taken the penalty on the kickoff? Atlanta would have had to kick from the 20 yard line.

It doesn’t move where the players start the kickoff so it doesn’t affect it that much. They need to move up the landing zone and line up the same amount of yards. NFL missed that little caveat.

You cannot take the penalty from a scoring play on a kickoff anymore. I has to be on the try. Part of the new kickoff rules.
If there is a penalty on the try, it gets enforced on the kickoff by moving the kicking spot only - not the player setup zone. So with the way these kickers can boot the ball these days, even a 15 yard penalty on an EP try moves the kickoff spot to the 20, which shouldnt affect the return all that much.

I had philly, but being objective, the falcons player didn’t do anything to warrant a flag on the Td. The ref appeared to me to simply want to throw the flag . Like he was itching to do it and the players action of shooting an arrow was the refs lame excuse to throw the flag . Anyone else think that ?
