Smith takes over as head coach for the Bucs and should make them an improved team. McCown at QB is a solid upgrade from their problems last year. Doug Martin is back and healthy. Now, let's all take a moment and remember what the Panthers are. They have a top 5 defense that can make it difficult for anybody. They have Cam Newton, who matured a lot last year and is now making great reads with the football to help his team win. They have a healthy Jonathon Stewart who is explosive and can really help that loaded backfield. They lost Steve Smith but drafted Kelvin Benjamin from FSU. I love the Panthers taking a proven defense on the road in week one to be within a field goal and likely even beat the Bucs, who may have some growth to do before they truly reach their potential.
Seahawks -5
The defending champs have a tough matchup against the great arm of Rodgers, but if anyone is up to the task, it's them. That defense is just too good. They are basically unbeatable at home and Russell Wilson has looked extra sharp in the preseason. GB still has a lot to answer in their defense and I'm not sure they will truly get it together until later in the season.
Lions -5.5
This pick jumps out to me simply because the Lions offense is loaded. They were already great last year and now they have added Golden Tate and rookie Ebron into the mix. The Giants have looked completely inept in this new offensive system in the preseason and this is going to be a truly tough road test for them.
That's what I like most so far. Will post more plays if anything looks good after doing more research.
Good luck to everyone this week!

Week 1 is finally here!!!
Here are my favorite picks for the week and why:
Panthers +3 (teased 1/2 point)

Yeah Cam is a bit dinged up but I still like the Panthers D to come through. Cam was basically a game manager last year anyway so he won't be asked to do much and if he doesn't play the backup doesn't have to be spectacular. The running game is strong enough to rely on and the defense should carry them.
Adding play:
Patriots -3 (teased 0.5 point)
Better coach, better QB, and should be a better defense with Revis in there. The Pats are a lot of people's favorite to be AFC champs and I see them starting strong against a division rival. After the O-line issues with the Dolphins from last year they hare going forward with a ton of new starters and that could spell trouble for the passing game. Gronk is listed as questionable but did travel with the team. I think this is typical Belicheck just not showing his hand and that Gronk will suit up. Even without him, they are still very potent on the offensive side of the ball.

I personally did not see anything that impressed me about the lions in preseason. I also read when Caldwell took over as offensive coordinator right before the ravens went on their SB run he let flacco do his thing. The following year he got more involved and basically started messin stuff up.......I like NYG in that game.....outright live dog....

Fair enough on the Lions analysis, but do not forget the other side as well. The Giants have a new offensive scheme as well and Eli looked absolutely lost trying to run it. They are trying to do a lot of quick, short passes when their personal (i.e. Cruz) is better geared for the long ball.
As for the Lions, Caldwell is the head coach and not the offensive coordinator. Their offensive coordinator is Joe Lombardi, who was the QB coach for the Saints and no one can complain about what they have accomplished. Drew Brees has even publicly stated many times over about how much the Saints miss his presence there.
