Had it in the NBL once, line is 176.5, took the under, they score and score, 15 seconds to go, 175 pts scored, then 4 pts scored and ends with 179 pts.
Today, the same, under 44, live line goes up to 48.5 - you tell yourself if only I could bet it now and not pregame but it's too late, of course you don't place that u48.5 bet, and it ends with 46 pts.
These oddsmakers know how to beat us, time and time again, they are just too smart.

...with the help of the refs and players of course.
There is absolutely no way linesmakers could accurately predict spreads or totals within 1-2 pts consistently UNLESS there was something crooked going on in collaboration with sportsbooks and the teams themselves.
In the nfl it is very easy to let a score get to within 7-10pts of the total and then have the refs take over from there... 9x out of 10 the refs can keep a game close by swallowing their whistle or making a few bad calls.
Watch some high school football, their effort level on a per play basis is dramatically higher than what you see every week from these overpaid millionaires.
In the nfl these "professionals" miss tackles and leave players open on purpose. Knowing many of these games are likely fixed does not make it easier to bet on however... Mahomes used to get all the calls at the end of games and this year he doesn't.

Well said, and it should be crystal clear by now these prime time games are played 100% for the bookies, not for any other reason (yes, crowd, ads, massive $ around but the game itself is linked not 100% but 1000% to the lines).
The lines matter, all the times, especially in events like these. I'm feeling the NBA tonight might not be any different when you have only 2 games on board. I won't be surprised if that happens.
