To me that punt gave phi life big time. The reward of going for it outweighs the risk big time. Up 3, drove like 40 yards just to punt for a net gain of 19 yards.
I respect Reids mind majority of the time but this one is mind boggling. If you made the conversation than basically you control clock and put yourself in field goal range. If you don't get it than they be at the 39 yard line. I played under but i'm only making this statement for the love of the game.

The intention wasn't to gain merely 19 yards; rather, the strategy aimed to pin Philadelphia inside the 5-yard line. Given that Philadelphia was struggling to advance the ball at that juncture, this was likely the thought process behind the decision. In hindsight, it's easier to evaluate the outcome.

I knew the intention of it but against philly thats strategically wise. Philly is known to utilize all their down for long drives if necessary. You better be up by 7 against them to be safe.

Glad you brought up the punt. They were gaining yards in rushing but continued to throw while in opponents territory. Back to the punt, KC’s punter and punt coverage team was horrendous tonight. One punt was for 29 yards. The punt from 39, netted 19 yards. He out kicked his coverage by going line drive to gain yards. This was after hanging one for 29 yards. Philly was starting drives at the 40 yard line. I think that was difference in game. Besides the drops…..

What happened to KC Offense? The Defense has made huge improvements and the offense has gone backwards......... Seems every second half they struggle big time!!!!!

They should of done anything possible to keep a couple of those badazz WRs they had. Especially T. Hill. and having a QB like Mahomes that make great homerun throws..They probably cant even run that wasp play anymore. They used it in SB against 9ers.

I remember a few years ago, the % of times a team scored when they had to start within their own 5yrd line was just under 10%. I don't know if that percentage still remains, but maybe those odds go into the "pin them deep" strategy.
That dropped bomb by MVS, is pretty much unforgivable,,, an auto fireable offense IMO, some one has to put their foot down about the hands of stone receiving corp. they run out there.
