All the momentum of an LAK Cup is gone and never to be found again. How these guys have let it get to this point boggles my mind. Does anybody even remember Darryl Sutter getting hired and transforming LA into a juggernaut in a matter of weeks?

&#xD;&#xA;think that&#x27;s pretty much a "true statement". the "non-traditional" hockey markets in the States probably don&#x27;t even MISS NHL hockey. GREAT move by David Stern and the NBA getting former NBA lawyer Bettman as NHLcommissioner  to destroy the "competetion".&#xD;&#xA;with more than half the season now officially CANCELLED, may as well just cancel the whole season. playing any games now just to have some half-baked "playoffs" in the spring is a JOKE

We finally win a cup and now we won&#x27;t wont even be able to raise that banner. What an absolute joke.When you have players signed to 10-14 year deals then yes, your business model is broken. Players need to cave in already. They make too much money in a sport that nobody watches.Ah well. At least my Galaxy won back 2 back!

The players are EMPLOYEES!&#xD;&#xA;YES and the performance those "employees" is the ONLY PRODUCT that the "Owners" have to SELL. &#xD;&#xA;this isn&#x27;t like a traditional work stoppage even in a high skill business like flying or repairing an aircraft for an airline where you can still get "qualified" people to do the job. the NHL isn&#x27;t going to bring in a bunch of lower level players because they know the quality of their product would SUCK and the fans wouldn&#x27;t STAND for it.&#xD;&#xA;and your statement that "The league isn&#x27;t a league like the NBA, where stars carry the league!" is just plain foolish. stars like Gretsky single handly saved hockey in LA as did Mario in Pittsburgh both as a player AND later as an owner. fans want to see the "marquee" players in NHL Hockey just like in any other sport

They should start the season the day after the Super Bowl, play a short regular season schedule and then have the playoffs. No one cares about the regular season anyway. It's way too long. The playoffs are exciting and that's all anyone wants to see anyway.

marnypoly is correct. The players are making way too much money in a sport that has a very limited market. The owners are at fault because they've overpaid the players and now they want to be saved from themselves. The owners don't need for play to resume. The players do.

The general feeling within my group [Most of us have seasons tickets] is one of general apathy towards the whole thing. It's saving us all a bunch of money in tickets, booze and dining costs.

This might have to be a two year strike if the players are serious about getting what they want. Nobody even talks about the strike anymore and nobody I know has taken sides.

If the players settle again for what they were offered at the beginning, then from my point of view all they wanted was a year off. Nothing more.

The players do. &#xD;&#xA;and this is WHY? maybe for the North American born and bred players BUT the Europeans and esp the Russians have plenty of places to play for decent money. many of the top Russians are probaly making MORE on a per-game (and defintely after tax) basis that they do in the 82 game &#x2B; playoffs NHL schlage &#xD;&#xA;I wouldn&#x27;t be the least bit suprise IF top Russians don&#x27;t come back IF the league trys to cut their contracts
