The league complains about low scoring but if someone evens looks at a goalie it's goaltender interference, no goal.

Goalies wearing a hundred pounds of pads but don't you even think about touching them

NHL should just not allow teams to dress a goalie, then there would be tons of goals and therefore games would be exciting.

People who never played don't really understand the game and strategy as well.  I've seen and played in countless low-scoring games that were exciting.

I know I'm in the minority here, but I'm still pissed that the NHL got rid of the two-line pass rule and moved the blue lines up to give the offense more room to attack in the opposing zone.

And don't get me started on that retarded dodecagon behind the net (yes, I know it's called a trapezoid) that's only there so the goalie has limited space to play the puck behind his net.  Another advantage to the offense!

NHL, like other professional sports, is becoming softer by the season.  It's getting to the point where if you touch a guy it's called Interference.  "2 minute minor on 15 for hurting the guy's feelings!"  How many more advantages do you want to give the offense in this league?  This is coming from someone who has played ice for 16 years at the left-wing position.  It's getting harder and harder for defenders to do their job.

I agree with BenHogan, let's just not dress the goalies.  Empty nets for all, hahahahaha.

Just because it's low-scoring doesn't mean that it's not exciting

Also agree slobasaurus about some of the low scoring games have plenty of excitement...... Especially teams with speed ....

This is great thinking.  Sydney Crosby has been preaching this for years.  I can't believe it was actually a thought to increase the size of the nets.

What more does the NHL have to do to promote more offense?  It's ridiculous.  Stop changing the game!

If you are taking away advancement in goalie equipment I assume we will go back to wood sticks also?   If the NHL wanted more offense they wouldn't be thinking of adding more teams, they would be contracting teams.  You can teach less talented guys to play defense, you cant teach guys to be goal scorers.

Also they could think about playing game with a football feel like that would attract market Ratboy is looking for.

That is a really good point.

I was watching Nilsson in net last night...kid is 6'5" and with his pads he encompassed the entire net.
Athletes are bigger, stronger and faster than in the past. I don't know what the answer is but something needs to be done. IMO..

I play an accumulator with like 2 games with just over 3.5 goals and some NBA games. next day I wake up and see that both NHL games didn't even go over 3. It's ridiculous.

    Why not 3 on 3?

Or each goal is worth 3?

Now we have excitement, every game is  double digit total.

    We should stop eating bananas.
