Boy, oh boy, oh boy...NHL Signing Day Discussion

I am going to have to pull up a roster by October to see exactly who is where! I can't recall this much movement. So who is the winners and who are the losers? 

My winners so far....

Nashville - how can you not like what Nashville has done. Stammer can still produce. Between him, O'Reilly, Marchessault they will have the leadership needed. Adding Skjei will increase an already good blue line. Keeping Juice another huge step. Tough division though. 

New Jersey - we know they have the offensive weapons but they are now adding blue liners. Believe it or not, I like the addition of Keefe. I think he was hamstrung in Toronto. 

Toronto - speaking of the Leafs. I like the additions of Tanev and OEL. I think (at least I hope) Berube will be able to coach his way and not take BS. They re-signed Woll and added Stolarz, does that mean Sammy is gone? 

Chicago - I like that they have brought in exeperience to be combined with Bedard. Now don't get me wrong, they won't be challenging for any division or playoff spot but they will be making improvements from the last several years. 

Losers: 

Canes - think they lost too much, the aforemention Skjei, Teravainen, Noesen, Pesce and losing Guentzel. 

VGK - they might have seem to lost this battle, but we now they will win a war come next April. Stephenson, Marchessault, Martinez and Carrier. 

Red Wings - I put them here because I expected more out of them and they have really done nothing. 

Florida - yep, have to add them to this list. You lost Montour, OEL, Stenlund and Lomberg. 

Don't like what the Bruins did although I did like the way Zadorov played. B's had a scoring problem last year, not a defensive problem. What the hell are the Rangers doing? Standing pat? Trouba? My Pens are sinking further and further down the line. Think about the pressue of Guentzel and the shoes he is having to fill. WOW...Basically, Tampa said, Stammer, thank you but you are over the hill and we are taking the younger guy. Good luck.

BMAC is killing it! Predz and caps win the offseason! 

resigned Mcmichael our center depth is decent, especially when you factor in we have Hendrix “Calder cup winner and MVP of AHL postseason” added winger depth. Fixed the blue line and have a legit backup if not starter in Thompson if Charlie falters. 

Stamkos contract going to look real bad in couple years, if it takes that long. Guentzel contract is .   Guess it is where we are at but it won’t age well.

 Couldn't mention everybody. First thoughts, improvement. Good enough to challenge the big boys of the East? Not yet. Said it last year, what impressed me the most was the youth of the team and it still does. The addition of Chychrun adds to the youth. I like the addition of Logan Thompson but we will see if he was just a product of the VGK system or he is solid. Mangiapane, eh..he had one solid year and just average since then. The unknown factor is PLD. He has been a cancer just about everywhere he has gone. Blue Jackets said no thank you, Jets said no thank you, Kings said no thank you. Gotta figure that one out as he has decent talent. Bottom line, I think they do compete for a playoff spot and better than they were last year. But what the hell do I know?

 A lot of these contracts are absurd but when you compare them to that bouncy ball league, they are minute. No way in hell I would have given Stammer a 4 year deal. He is no Sidney Crosby (in fact, heard that the Pens are talking contract extension with Sid right now). I do think the line of Jake, Brayden and Kutch will be electric but that will be only one of 3.

 Speaking of age...Oilers becoming the nursing home of the NHL? Perry and Skinner on the same day. Hope they have plenty of apple sauce available.

I realize hockey is a business but a part of me understands relationships. Hedman and Stammer played 15 years together, probably hung out together, became brothers and that is now no longer available. It has to be hard at times. 

Enough with the soft crap...why in the hell are these teams handing out 4 year deals to 33 and 34 yr olds? I should have played hockey in some form or fashion.
