I've never seen anything like it the way fans and media spin everything positive in this guys' favour. He was not good tonight despite the pretty goal. He was turning the puck over loads and way too aggressive. If he misses that pinch for the goal then NYR had a 2-on-1 going the other way. Very high risk. All it is after the game though is how he anchored the win.
He yaps nonstop to the refs and opposition and dives so much. As good as he is, there ARE flaws in his game and he is definitely not the best d-man in the league. No way. There is lots to criticize but you don't hear a peep.
Now, Doughty is my 2nd or 3rd favorite player in hockey. I have a prop bet on him for the Smythe. You see all the credit Doughty gets though while a very similar player in Subban is constantly criticized (I wonder why).
My point being, the media is useless and Doughty is actually slightly overrated (still top 5 dman though imo).
