If You Suspend Hagel

You have to suspend Tkachuk too. You set a precedence and it's a comparable hit/play. I may be bias I admit but I don't see how he doesn't get suspended too. Regardless, what a huge win. Home ice disadvantage, who knew.

disagree. hagel hit a guy that never touched the puck. gentzel was watching his pass and got killed.. little late but not suspension worthy.

I agree that hit isn't suspension worthy. And I'm a Lightning fan. 

The TBS panel seemed split on this although leaning more towards suspension. While it probably shouldn't matter, the timing of Hagel's suspension and then the Tkachuk  play the very next game may factor in. I get the puck angle but believe me the NHL is thinking hard about this one. I think he'll get suspended.

While I am not the professional, two hits were alike but different. I do feel like Matty's hit was dirty but I don't think it is suspendable. If he doesn't get suspended, the next game will be interesting.

It was definitely a dirty hit from a dirty player but would guess no suspension but his past might come into play? 

Just an add on they really need to do something about this LTIR crap going forward. It's pretty easy to see that Tkachuk is and has been healthy for quite some time. Add Jones, Sturm and the Rat because of him being out is a fukking disgrace.

  Vegas did the same thing with Stone when they own the Cup, Tampa did it with Kuch...they stay within the rules but the rules are sketchy at best.

Thanks for the input, some of you know a lot more than I do. Definitely some variables may come into play, we'll find out soon enough.

 Just happy they won. Vasy has only given up 2 goals these last 2 games since the game one fiasco and the offense woke up, they were the better team today. You knew they weren't going to fold. Didn't play them though, didn't want to jinx them!

 Neither are suspension worthy. Both should have been 2 minute penalties.

Yep they all came back for game one and made an instant impact along with the haul that their teams made for them being out. Tkachuk is making it look so obvious he could and should have been playing a month ago.

been in a scotch stupor for last 72 hours, but watched both, and both were penalties.  Barkov was going for the puck and the Bolts Defenseman beat him to it, but he Barkov was trying to play the puck, so no problem with Hagel hitting him.  But Barkov did not touch the puck, so its interference.  No head  contact, good shoulder check.  I can see interference being called but I could also see the Ref not calling it.  Watch the replay - the Ref does not immediatly put his hand up, then he sees Barkov looks injured he raises it.

The Guenztel hit was late, and I agree with mrusso - i see no difference in suspension discussions.  Both were obvious penalties, and both got 5 minutes.  30 years ago, I think each gets a minor, and nothing else.  The new era of protecting the players, using replay, etc. we have these conversations.  Each player got a questionable check on the others top 3 player.  Can't disagree with tit for tat - let them play.

 30 years ago I don't think there even called for 2 minutes. All you gotta do is look up Scott Steven's and he will have lots of hits just like both of these.
