Well Gents and Jules, as Jim said, this is the End. First let me say, Boldy, Ben and Eprince, good luck with your boys tonight. I really have no dog in this battle but I can tell you as a hockey fan, the playoffs this year has been outstanding and to get a Game 7 to top it off. Can't ask for anything more or can we..(more on that in a minute). Bottom line, to me at least, is this is just a game. We will awake tomorrow and live will go on. Hopefully, it will go on for us to return in 3 months to do it all over again.
Onto tonight...Home teams in Game 7 are 12-5. Paul Maurice is 4-0 in game 7s. This is the 10th time Corey Perry is playing in a Game 7, he is 5-5. The team that scores first wins 71% of the time in these playoffs. Edmonton has ALL the momentum. But now many of us a week ago was saying Florida had all the momentum and it will end in 4 or 5 games. Most game 7s are low scoring affairs with teams not wanting to make that mistake.
IMO, if Florida loses, it will take years for this franchise to recover. If Edmonton loses, they will be upset but at the same time they will have desire to return next year. If Florida wins, we will say congrats and move on. If Edmonton wins, we will discuss with children and grandchildren about the collapse of the Panthers. I still say one of the big differences in Edmonton has been Paul Coffey. With his addition, they are playing defense and their PK has been outstanding.
No matter what, we get a Game 7 and hope it will be a non controversial game. I have rode the Panthers the last 3 games and I will stick with them again tonight. Let's see if home ice makes a difference in this one.
