I have never seen a player ask for the coaches approval to fight someone? Tkachuk would have hurt him badly if the linesman hadn't of jumped in so quickly. After the linesman tried to break it up and have a hold of Tkachuk did Pastrnak try to fight back. He said he wasn't scared of him in his interview after but he clearly was.
I missed Pastrnak's first fight, did he ask the coach if it was okay for that one too? It's fair game until the linesman jump in and then the fight should be over. I hate Tkachuk as much as you but Pastrnak only started to throw punches after the two linesman were holding Tkachuk down. Some of the stuff you have mentioned above sounds just like what Marchand does multiple times every game he plays. 
This sometimes happens after a team goes 7 games and then wins Game 1 on the road by 4 goals. They were fat and happy and needed a game off. Sounds like that was Game 2. They will be better next game but it may not be enough.

I have been around enough to know what you say to be true. But I don't give them a pass. They are highly paid professionals. I take a day off like that with my job and lose that badly changes are I get fired. I don't mind losing just not with zero effort/heart. I really hope the Panthers completely wipe the floor with them now.

They might of just ran out of gas mentally and physically. It may not have been their choice. Then add in my point above on top of that. They were doomed. Especially up 1-0 after 1. They had to be feeling great after 1. I didn't watch it but you are not the first I have heard of this lack of Bruins effort Game 2.
The Bruins won Game 1 in an aberration. Goals from bottom 6 forwards and defensemen. That isn't gonna continue. The Bruins were probably out of gas in Game 2 and it happens. You are going to have a dog game.
My problem with this team is there is no consistency. Their top players play like crack addicts...on the top of the world for a game and then strung out and not producing for 2 or 3 games. The PP is a disaster right now. They play mediocre at home which I cannot understand given all the fan support and how loud it is in there.
They should come out in Game 3 like their families are being held hostage by Hamas and their lives depend on a victory. But...I don't know that we see it. Too inconsistent and no killer instinct. Truth be told...the only reason they are even in Rd 2 is Jeremy Swayman.
As for Pastrnak fighting...no way should that be allowed by the team and it would never happen when the NHL had integrity. The change of rules with instigator allow cheap players to take liberties with star players without worry of retribution. Do we really think someone would throw down on Gretsky...lol.
As for Tchachuk...guy is just the type of player you want on your team IMO...high end offensive talent and the ability to agitate and take opposing players off their game.
