Question: What is a 3 way line

I have been playing in vegas for years now, but never seen a '3 way line'.... both sides are + odds, and one is +1/2 and the other is -1/2.... if I were to guess, I would say the all three periods need to be your way (i.e. +1/2 or -1/2). I just started a small offshore, and was curious.

Isnt 3 way just a bet in regular time?&#xD;&#xA;1X2 .. So home / draw / away. They are almost always &#x2B;, except when the team is Washington, lol.

Guys, I have been betting sports, and hockey specifically for years, but no one seems to be able to tell me exactly what a 3-way line is.  As far a I can see, and tell; it is a &#x2B;1/2 or -1/2 wager, both sides are plus odds... is it whereas you pick one team and they have to be winning the wager each period?  perplexed here.

A 3 way line is a regulation line. For example, tonights Devils/Leafs game...Devils -0.5 (&#x2B;105)Leafs &#x2B;0.5 (-125)Draw &#x2B;315Draw is self explanatory. (game goes to OT) The 0.5 is the regulation line. Devils need to win in regulation to cover. Leafs need to either win, or send the game to OT. The score at the end of regulation is the final. Hence, a 2-2 game would win for Leafs &#x2B;0.5 and lose for Devils -0.5.

I should add that the result of overtime is 100% MEANINGLESS towards this wager. It is a regulation wager ONLY.

A 3 way line is a bet on what happens during the 1st 60 minutes (3 periods). It has nothing to do with winning all 3 periods.

There are only 3 possible results:

The home team wins the game.
The away team wins the game.
The game is tied after 3 periods.

It's much like betting the soccer 3 way. Do you know how that works? Same thing.

I book with Betus and their 3 way betting is different than explained here. Only difference is if u have the dog. It is actually a Regulation ML play. They must win the game in regulation. It is not +.5 example in tonights games.

ML including OT:

Colorado -165

Columbus +145

3 way betting: Colorado -120

Columbus +240

The much better price on the dog here , obv because they must WIN in regulation, cannot be tied.

You are betting 3 possible ways.

dog wins, fav. wins, or they are tied.

This is distinctly different than the .5 regulation lines offered by some books. While it is in essence, a .5 reg. line for the favorite. It is NOT a .5 line for the dog.

Take the same game here tonight offered on 5dimes.

ML including OT:

Colorado -160

Columbus +145

Regulation only lines: Colorado -.5 -105

Columbus +.5 -115

You can clearly see the difference here in the price u are getting for Columbus. Since they can simply force OT, and this bet would be a winner.
