I don't watch hockey but i always look at the scores and standings etc.
What has me surprised quite a bit and i would like opinions on this.
1. Has Toronto, Edmonton and Calgary got a lot lot better? I recall last season Edmonton went pretty deep in the postseason and i think calgary did decent as well. I recalled back then, all these teams were the laughing stock of the NHL. I recall everytime i looked at the standands, it seemed Edmonton and Calgary always had the worst record in the NHL. That is true right?
2. Also is there a reason why oddsmakers are giving these 3 teams such big lines? They are huge favorites against many other teams. I always recall the best NHL teams are Pittsburgh, Chicago, Washington etc. I'm surprised when they play Montreal and other top and medium tier teams, they are at least a pickem or even favorite.
3. I know Montreal and Anaheim are pretty good teams as they usually are ranked pretty high similar to Pittsburgh, Chicago and Washington. However, why are these 2 teams so horrible this year? What surprises me a lot is Anaheim has one of the worst home records in NHL. I recalled Anaheim always had one of the best home records in hockey.
Now I can't even name you more than 5 hockey players names as I don't watch hockey. But i do check the scores and standings and these few things has me confused.
