i live in t.o ppl are going nuts for rick nash he has 39 points and a -22 rating and we would would have to give up like 4 players i feel like hes the most overrated player in the nhl? thoughts

The minus  isn't big issue he plays on brutal team, he's good player but Burke always gets raped in trades. They will overpay for him. Burke is not good evaluating players. Has Schenn as untouchable for yrs, guy is complete clusterfu*k in his own end, Komisarek way overpaid, just handed Stalberg to Chicago, and how bright would Toronto's future look with Hall or Seguin down the road. Burke is on big push to make playoffs this yr, so his 45 yr plan will look to be ahead of schedule.

Nash is a force on the ice - look at him with team Canada - he is a shoe in every time. Playing in Columbus he has no one to play with. They bring in Carter and now they are trying to move him as well

BURKE ALWAYS GETS RAPED? R U KIDDING ME?

Burke Fleeced Calgary in the Phaneuf trade...and what about Beauchemin to Anaheim for Lupul, Jake Gardiner (who I think is better than Schenn).  And Phil Kessel possible 40 goal season this year and many more to come....so you can't say he always get Raped.

Most overrated? I don't think you're looking at it the right way.. the team he's on is by FAR the worst in the NHL. Plus/ Minus is a direct result of who's on the ice when the puck goes in the net.. if you're on the ice with a bunch of poor players, what chance do you have of having a good Plus/ Minus? 

There are several franchise players that have been poor in that category because of the overall play of their teams. Eric Staal, Corey Perry, Ryan Getzlaf and Iginla is a minus player this year as well.. Getzlaf and Iggy have both had years where they were around plus 30.. are they overrated now too? 

Put Nash on the Bruins and all of a sudden he's a plus 20 with a lot more points. Your teammates clearly play a big role in how you're going to look. He was fantastic in the Olympics.. when he actually had teammates. Who ever gets Nash will automatically become a much better team.. I'd take him on my team anyday.

Uhh... the Leafs never traded Tyler Seguin.. they traded picks which ended up being Tyler Seguin.. there's a HUGE difference and people seem to have a hard time understanding that. You always take a gamble when you give up picks.. the Leafs stunk that year and the Bruins got a great pick. Every team in the history of the NHL has either A. drafted the wrong player and watched a later pick turn into a superstar or B. traded picks away that ended up being more valuable than the player they got back in the trade. 

Fair enough, people are going to compare the two players or shit talk that trade, but at least recognize it for what it was... a trade for an immediate impact player for picks.

Burke has done well with trades.. nerveagent -22 is horrible iggy is -1 and perry is -5 not minus 22 if ur so good u have to bring players around u better..  and Mikhail Grabovski has the same points as nash obviously nash is a better player then him i just dont see trading schenn kadri and 1 round pick and maybe a goalie.. this is not an unrealistic trade either i think its going to happen.. worry about signing grabo then freaking out about nash

It's a moot point in my mind. Corey Perry WAS a -22 when the Ducks were tanking.. they're one of the hottest teams in the league right now and Perry and Getzlaf are lighting it up now. Rick Nash? Still on one of the poorest teams in the league with no help in sight.

Hey I'm with you man.. I don't think the Leafs should sell the farm to get Nash.. we have bigger holes in the lineup. Do we really need a top line winger? We have 2 great wingers on the top line. All I'm saying is Nash would make the Leafs a much better team and I think him playing in Columbus really is affecting his true value.. you may think he's overrated but he's putting up "Grabovski" numbers on a garbage team.. what do you think he puts up on the Bruins? 

Anyway, if we can get him for something reasonable, fine. If not we'll figure out another way to get better.. he's not the last good player that will ever be on the market. We need a top line center first in my opinion.

How about:

Phaneuf + Aulie  for White + Stajan + Hagman + Mayers

or

Lupul + Gardiner for Beauchemin

The only debatable deal is the Kessel deal. And thats extremely debatable considering Kessel is top 5 in scoring atm.

I by no means see the Leafs through rainbow coloured glasses, but theres no question Burke has been a farrr better evaluator of talent in Toronto then theres been here in... I dunno when trader Cliff wasn't senile?

Komisarek bust big contract cant move him, Schenn bust can't play, healthy scratch, Phneauf way overated brutal in defensive zone. Kessel no f'N way was he worth Hall or Seguin. He was shipped out of Boston because he has no heart. 

Who did Burke get in the Phneauf trade that is so hot? White is playing lights out?

Leafs would be looking better with White and Beauchimenn on D have you seen how many goals this team gives up. Not sure what team you guys are watching.

You honestly place a higher value on Kessel than 2 twenty yr old franchise players.

hockey teeth how can dis regard the lupul gardiner deal hagman phneauf deal kessel is a top scorer this year ? how do u know the leafs would have taken seguin in the deal? burke dont trade 4 plyers for 1 overrated one

Not saying that but the entire hockey world did a spit-take when Burke traded his first round pick with those two on the horizon. Hamilton doesn't fit into rebuilding team? Kadri is he ever going to be NHL type player. He does not evaluate players well. Most teams that have been as bad as the Leafs have for this amount of time are loaded with young guns, leafs have Kadri. Thats it for twenty yrs worth of drafting. 

I just dont see this awesome defensive team you guys are seeing. 174 goals allowed this yr! Where did they come out ahead in Dion trade? He let some pretty good players walk when he took over the club, solid NHL players. Moore is good enough for SJ but not for the Leafs? These are the kind of players the Leafs need. This is what I mean by not being a good judge of talent.

They are going to regret letting Hamilton go.

I don't think the Leafs need Nash because their D and roller coaster goaltending is what sucks. The Kings need an offensive player like Nash because they can't score a freaking goal when Quick allows 1 or 2 a game!
