Start Brodeur...Luongo is the weakest link

If you are a Canadian fan, you want his experience. Luongo looked shaky and played poor tonight. He seems to be too far back in the crease and he certainly handled the puck poorly.

I have to think that Babcock must seriously consider putting the best goalie in the history of the NHL back in for the final game. His puck moving abilities are also something that can help mitigate the speedy US forecheck and help some of the slower Cdn D.

Will wait to see what happens and hear about possible player changes, but I have to think some of the older players should speak up also about Brodeur coming back in.

Canada looks to have the right line combos now and they have momentum and a new lease on life after being beaten by the US this past week. If Marty plays, I like any reasonable -1 puckline. With Luongo in, I like the value with any USA puckline and hope to get a something as high as a USA +1.5 puckline.

u should know that if u watch playoff hockey, and canadian.
it is almost a curse to tinker with goalies this late in the playoffs.
all coaches don't switch. canada won. they won't repair things that aren't broke.
sure luongo looked bad on the first goal.
on the second it is the dmans job to clear the front of the net.
and just who saved canada with the slovaks net pulled. luongo.
if u don't think luongo was the hero in the dying seconds then u weren't watching the game

also u might not watch playoff hockey. too many other things to do in toronto like watch jays training and the raptors.
either way, no coach will ever make a switch with a cold goalie this late in the tourney.

That would really be smart put the guy in that gave the US  two goals with his puck handling ability last time they met.

Neither Luongo nor Brodeur have given me much confidence. Odd they have a goalie who has made it to the SC finals two years running yet he's #3.

Tough decision either way.

If they put in Brodeur, and we lost again, it would be the end of mike Babcocks career as a coach.  I see your point very well, I think Brodeur would come out with a vengeance after being pulled against them (he is the best there is, was, and ever will be), but I would stick with the home town goalie as hes got just as much to prove, and its less risk of political suicide.

Id like to pull my "best there ever will be" comment back.

Just putting the thought out there. Unlike the playoffs, where you usually have a number 1 and number 2 goalie, this is different because you have 3 #1s and you now have a one game outcome.

Luongo saved the day yesterday late in the game, sure. He saved Canada from a situation he put them in, imo. We could very easily be writing in a "Canada/Luongo chokes" thread today?

This game for Canada is not for revenge but redemption and it is especially so for Brodeur. I would take him in a game seven in any situation, any time.

As for Babcock, he has to forget politics and go with his judgement.

This has served him very well in the past.  Will be interesting to see what happens on Sunday,

Arguable, the Cardinal Sin of betting is to bet with your heart and not with your head. I would love to see this Canadian gold in hockey, but -200 is a heavy price, especially when the you contrast Miller's play with both the Cdn goalies' play. I might have to make the Cardinal Sin in this case and take Canada on the puckline.

Hopefully, I get a pleasant game-time goalie switch and Babcock looks brilliant shortly afterwards.

Luongo was back in his net all game yesterday, but as of today is the better goalie

I said this from the start Fleury deserved to start,  The guy went to the Finals back to back and won game 6 and 7 with a final score of 2-1.

He's been in pressure games and has won unlike Luongo.

Also if this was 4 years ago its Broduer no questions asked, to say he's not a top 5 goalie of all time is foolish.  In my generation its him and Roy nobody else is even close. 

Luongo  gets the start no doubt about it.
