I’ve been eyeing up Toronto to end this Florida win steak tonight, especially after getting smoked by TB. Campbell looks to be in net tonight. Is Matthews returning? Is this a bad idea?
one wrinkle is Florida plays TB tomorrow in what should be a good game.
hard feeling good betting against Florida at home but does Toronto get the job done tonight or are they coasting until the playoffs? Who else is on the Laffs?

Tough game. I just feel the Panthers are on a mission, especially playing at home. In my mind, they want that Presidents Cup. I do think the Leafs are set in their position and the main thing for them is not get anyone injured the last week. I don't think they give a crap about this game (my thoughts). I do have some pause because the Panthers play their arch rival tomorrow. I am going small on Panthers ML for the President's Cup reason.

Totally know the story but as you and I have discussed, going into Colorado for 4 games is tough and I think the Panthers want to try and get home ice. It will all ride on Bob though to get there.

Dont know Omega. I just dont have a feel for what these teams want out of the last 4 or 5 games. I think they both want to win, but I kinda think that a successful weekend for them (FLA) would be to split TOR and TB. Get the win tonight, up 4 points on Avs, and even if they drop TB game tomorrow, they got 3 left, and includes Habs and Sens.
I am playing the total, which I have a bad feeling is going to lose in a 4-2 EN type of ending.

In the playoffs any team can win you just need your goalie get hot at the right time... I seen over the years ppl betting the team winning the pres cup & it never works out so winning it is not a big deal ppl that don't know hockey...history is not on the team side winning it.

@dyamarik Stupid way to cap but have seen it many, many times. Last game 13 goals and everyone thinks this will fly over the total and it ends up 4-3.
I think its a smart way to cap. I got it at 7, but smart coaches will be playing all 4 lines, and as you said trying to stay healthy. That should be as important as the W at thispoint for both squads.

Decent article on the President's Trophy. What was interesting was the average ranking of the Stanley cup winners...4.56. Which by odds, puts the Leafs, Rangers and Wild in that category.

Interesting. From a Statistical point of view, your chances of winning the Cup Finishing with 8th overall or worse record are pretty slim based on this data. of those last 34 Cups, 29 have come from the 1st-7th overall seeds (across both Conf.). About 11%.
Was surprised to see that 8/34 came from the President's Cup winner. That is about 23%. HOWEVER, since 2007-08 season, only 1 team has done it.
1 out of 15 is starting to approach "curse-worthy"...

Toronto is unpredictable and Florida isn’t especially at home and if they were just playing not to get people hurt Mathew’s wouldn’t be returning tonight. If FL loses it’ll be tomorrow!

Actually, the play in that game might be the under 7.5. Both teams just want to stay healthy.
DOC, thank you for this. I loved your thinking here and this was my big play. I got in for + odds at under 7.5. 2-2 going into OT and that's a winner! Felt much more comfortable with this than taking a side.

Good game. Florida has actually been playing D and Bob has been steady. 13 in a row. However, in the playoffs they cannot keep putting themselves in a hole.
Streak ends tomorrow
