Tampa to win the Cup @ +3000 before the season started

50$ pays 1500$

any suggestions on what i should do here?

Bruins are currently -155 on one of my books

The current value of TB to win the Cup is roughly +600, therefore the current value of your prop is still only $200-$250 or so. Personally, I'd let it ride until the Cup Final unless the $50 is a meaningful amount to you.

wouldn't hurt to throw a "get your bait back" $155 hedge to win $100 on the Bruins tonight. just might "werfen die schlange" (throw the snake) on them

yea thats what i was thinking, just so i could break out even, i just dont see any other way to hedge this...

 

right now my local has Vancouver @ -260 to win the Cup
where as boston is +260...

If you wanted to go bet for bet, you can get TB to LOSE the cup at -790 on 5dimes, but that really isn't much of an attractive option...

The thing that sucks is, even if they WIN tonight and make the Cup final, they will still be upwards of +200 to win vs Vancouver. With that being said, I'd obviously take your +3000 in a heartbeat.

First bolded part:  LOL!!! i cant even get that choice through my local

Second bolded part:  thats why i was trying to think of a way to hedge, my local already has Vancouver listed at -260 to win the cup, and it will only go higher...

I think your Local is going to be WAY high with that Canucks -260. Canadian bias? hell, the Canucks were -270 here in Las Vegas for their Predators series and I doubt that against either the Lightning OR Bruins it would be close to that.

your in Canada so you don't have the bullshit "offshore account" problems we have here in the States.

Na it'll certainly be lower than -260 once the official series line comes out. That's just a number to see if anyone is stupid enough to bite.

Here's what I would do
I would hedge tonight's game

Boston -155, Risking 155$ to win 100$

If Boston wins you make 50$ profit. If not your still alive with your futur ehich gives you

TB to win the cup 50$ to win 1345$. Which is still tremendous value. I wouldn't want to lose everything with a single game

I got 20:1 on Boston to win the Cup last June in Vegas. only $20 to win 420, but still pretty good.

also bet Vancouver at 9:1 before season started for 100.

taking TB for 1/4 unit tonight just to hope i lose. lol

Doesn't work that way dude. You have to subtract the $155 hedge loss from both sides. So his new bet would be $200 to $1345.

Could you plz explain that to me I'm trying to figure it out but it isn't registering. yeah you lost your -155$ but you still have the 50$ to win 1500$. your not gonna lose another 205 if TB doesnt win the cup afterwards. you will lost 205$  total

You pretty much hit it right there.

If your first bet is 50-1500 and you lose $155 on a hedge, you have to subtract the hedge amount from BOTH SIDES of your wager. He is now invested for $205 total to profit $1345. (the $1550 has to equal his 50-1500 payout)

You can look at it any way you want, but if you are looking at it from a profit/loss perspective, the $205 is your new risk because that is the new amount you stand to lose.

I'm pretty sure we're on the same page here, just a few minor details.

You don't lose $205 MORE, the $205 just means your total investment on the bet.
