The debacle made absolutely no sense then and makes even less sense now. The league GM's are ALL looking to get younger, cheaper and much much faster so why would any GM trade a stealth slick fast skating dman to get an overpaid, aging, slow moving no points guy with a long overbearing contract (until hes 40) in return? This "trade" wasn't made by either of the teams GM's. This scandal was orchestrated by gary and a few of the owners to help Nashville. A long worthless contract like Weber's could've bankrupted the Preds. All is fine now. Great work by the commissioner

Subban gets 3 points tonight and Weber is on the par 3. Ahhhh to be blind and gullible as nhl fans. The Hawks have an aging overpaid group. Maybe they should call the Oilers and see if theyre willing to trade Mcdavid for Brian Campbell. Afterall hes only 38

Yeahhhh, definitely sketchy. Bergevin saying 6 days before the trade, he wouldn't trade Subban.
Some shady poop happens at HQ for sure.
Who knows if it's shady or not, but as soon as your name gets out in the context of "we're not trading him", "we're not firing him", "he's still our coach"...you best be packing your bags. Deny, deny, deny, until you've actually pulled the trigger. Happens everytime.

Reminds me of the whole John Scott fiasco. I'm assuming there are some next level revenue reports which triggers the commish to make a quick phone call and change everything lol.

That John Scott debacle actually shows you who runs the league and what kind of people they are. Right now im looking into the Leafs last game vs the Jackets and their inability to get 1 point against a team that shouldn't of even laced their skates. I just don't believe it.

Lol yes. As a Sens fan living in Ottawa, I was shocked they blew that lead and couldn't muster a point. Was looking forward to the battle of ontario, but instead the Leafs got thrown to the wolves. Unfair.

when it happened I though the trade was a "win-win" for BOTH teams and probably STILL is. BOTH helped their teams this season. one good playoff game for PK Subban does NOT make Shea Weber a "mutt"

Yeah this is true! I think the weird thing is, you dont really see a "like for like" trade. Like you rarely see a D-man for D-man. or a winger for a winger.
Both were assets to their team, just random lol. Oh well!

It was random, Subban was not liked by his Montreal teammates. I worked the front door for a bar/supper club in Toronto called Buonanotte there is one by the same name in Montreal. While I worked there Subban came to visit four times. When he came to party we witnessed something none of us working in the industry had ever seen before. That was a team athlete going out to party on multiple occasions and not once did her have a single teammate with him. He was only with a small little immature entourage that encouraged the immature antics he got up to inside the club as he begged for attention all night. Four visits and not one single teammate out with him as a friend. I have never seen that before in that business, honestly. That told me all i need to know. He will be moved from Nashville eventually too. Mike Fisher is as stand up of a guy as you will ever know, really good guy from Peterborough Ontario, grounded and decent. He can't stand Subban. Maybe for his sake he manages to grow up but if he doesn't his act will run out in Nashville too. Right now they are having success after a bad season for him and the team so as long as that is going on everything will be fine. The moment that team has a tough season he will be gone. It wasn't random, his team wanted him gone and if he was in the Rangers series the Habs would have gotten killed. Weber was by far the best Hab in that series. He donated all that money to the hospital for the same reasons Lindros did the same thing, they were concerned about nobody liking them and were attempting to heighten their images with cash. He was brutal in the first round and the Preds won despite his poor play. In three years he won't be in Nashville so Montreal won't have to worry about the comparison then. On Team Canada Weber plays more minutes than any defenceman while those very intelligent hockey men do not allow Subban to touch the ice. Listen to those hockey minds, they tell you all you need to know hockey wise with that decision.
