So watching the supposed top teams in the East the last few weeks, I think TB Futures only get shorter and shorter as the season wanes. I was hoping for a Bolts let down, lose a few games, and see if price drops, but teams that appear to be realistic contenders, like FLA, Canes, Pens, Loafs go and underwhelm again, and again.
Of the top 5 teams in East, Tampa with Vas just stand out as the cream of the crop. I think the Rags with Shesty, and Canes smothering, puck control style are the only other teams with a realistic shot to beat them in 7. FLA looks so good at times, and others, they just lay eggs. Boston & Wash just don't have enough to win 3 series in a row against the top teams, and Pens and Loafs just are not ready or not consistent enough to win 3 series against any contender.
Gonna throw 3 units on TB to win East at +375 and 1 unit on Cup +700.

Thx AJ - I usually take futures after the first month or two, but never did this year. The earlier you play them, better odds, and the more long shot teams you can take and still make a good profit. At this point, got to be choosy. Bolts seem like a no-brainer, and Flames have a great shot, esp. if they somehow avoid Colorado. I think they are 2nd best team n West behind them.

I usually end up playing too many futures and barely winning anything even if one of my teams wins haha. I'm holding the Flames, Jets, Bruins, Kings, Preds right now and don't really like my chances -__-

Tampa, caps, bruins and pens are playoff built teams with leaders all over. I feel like all 4 of them are just coasting through the reg.season....especially the bruins and caps
Leafs and panthers probably don't play D well enough
Canes are good but more of a regular season team. But have depth and goaltending.
Rangers are a dark horse. Goaltending can carry u in the playoffs.
IMO anyways
Always good to brainstorm with other knowledgeable fans

The only teams the panthers struggle with is west coast teams. That doesn’t exist in their conference and there is no west coast team that will make it to the Finals! FL wins the cup!

I bet only on hockey and I see a group of very inconsistent teams with Tampa, caps, leafs, canes, rangers and Pitt!
I don’t see anyone being able to beat FL 4 out of 7! They bring it offensively EVERY NIGHT! They can have defensive flaws and average goalies when they average 4/5 a game!

You guys have probably followed hockey a lot longer than me and know way more than me, but gah FL is good! Now I do worry that the trade could mess up their chemistry and ruin what they have! Only time will tell!

Appreciate the post. Not sure Caps and B's have a goalie who can carry them for a few games when they can't score. Pens Jarry is solid, but how much playoff XP does he have? Last year i think is it. Spot on for Loafs and Panthers. And Canes. Canes can keep games close, and could sneak out a series or two, but they won't beat TB over 7 games. I am prob gonna throw a unit or two on Rags - they are the one team that I think can take TB in 7.

You are prob right, but CGY is my second favorite team (behind CAR), and if the fuckery is kept to a minimum, they have the Goaltending and depth to make it to the Cup. I can always hope!

Appreciate the posts. FLA is really good, but in the playoffs, they won't be scoring 4 or 5 a night. No one is back-checking during regular season, like they will in playoffs, and the nuetral zone will be clogged up. I could be wrong (I often am), but I don't trust them in their own zone, and Bob and Spencer aren't going to out play Vas in 7 game series.
And that Bobrovsky is a loose cannon! Turn in your badge and gun Bobrovsky! Your off the Case!!!
