TONS of Value in CGY/CHI series

Yes everyone knows about the Hawks season dominance over the Flames but the playoffs are a WHOLE new beast and this hawks team has very minimal experiance. Kane, Toews, Versteeg, Keith, Seabrook, Barker, Brouwer, Byfuglien, Bolland all will be seeing its first playoff action. Compare this to the flames who have a grizzled veteran team that many of its best players have been thru the riggers of the playoff grind. Iggy, Regehr, Bertuzzi, Conroy, Langkow, Aucoin, Sarich, Leopold, Phaneuf. This series is going to be a long series IMO and when one team can boast the best player, the best goalie and the more experianced team in the series Ill take that anyday at plus odds, especially when I think the Flames win the series.

This Hawks team reminds me of the Pens who lost to Ottawa in the first round 2 seasons ago and the Caps who lost to the Flyers in last years first round. Young teams with tons of good young players but have very little experiance. Playoff hockey is played prolly at about 20%-25% higher capacity physically and its a big eye opener to young guys playing in it for the first time.
 
I really dont expect Kane, Toews, Versteeg to play well at ALL when they have to go into calgary with that crazy crowd.

I agree with your thoughts as I was also thinking the same thing about that Pens/Sens series comparison.
 
Calgary must clean up their play defensively though. They are the only team that made the playoffs allowing 3 goals per game. We all know the Hawks can score.
 
I expect Phaneuf (who can be very dirty) and the other big d-men for Calgary to lay the lumber to the Hawks fancy forwards and make them pay the price. The Flames do have a good PK unit if they take penalties.
 
 
Should be a very entertaining series.

Still think Chicago is too talented, especially at home, to let the Flames win this.  Then again, the Flames knocked around the Wings a couple years back in the Playoffs, but Calgary is our bogey team anyway.

Think Chicago takes this.

The Bulin Wall is all the "experience" Chicago needs, especially against a team that can't score.

Calgary is the sexy choice, but Chicago has been gearing up for this moment for a long time and will be mentally and physically ready to go.

What are you talking about? Mostly everyone on this forum is picking the Hawks to win and most of the public is on them also. You have absolutely no way of telling how they will react in there first trip to the postseason. Having a goalie that went to the finals a bunch of years ago wont solely be enough experiance. This is Nik Khabibulin we are talking about, not Marty Broduer, Patrick Roy or even Roberto Luongo.

I am a hawks fan! 

They are going to lack a bit of motivation here i think.   here is what i mean.  when you get something for the first time you are not sure of what it is until you figure out its so awesome you gotta have more.  The young Hawks are not sure of what they have right now, and by the time they realize what they have it might be too late.  I see the Flames in 6.

That doesn't make sense to me.

The Hawks have been playing all season for this moment and know exactly what the Playoffs are and what they want to accomplish (a long Playoff run).

How the Hawks will not know what they have until they figure it out, whatever "it" is, I don't understand.

CALGARY IN SIX GAMES.....And calgary is going to hit and hit and then hit some more......I already now calgary game plan.... Calgary going to be on them like flies on shit.....THis going to bang bang series.....IF you don`t like tough rough hockey then this is not for you....Calgary going to take there time and space away from this young team....There will be no room to skate out there.. CALGARY IN  6 games

I agree with most of those points but Khabibulin has won a cup. And he won it by winning games 6 and 7 vs Kiprusoff in '04
I wouldnt automatically say Kipper is the better goalie in this series at all.

And 'Bulin also had young forwards as well when he won the Cup.

you really can't give credit for bulin winning game 6 in that cup series... the flames should have won the game and won the cup.. gelinas clearly had a goal
