Matthews is back so Toronto will be crushing goalkeepers over and over
again. The past day I took their over was against Montreal and they
scored 6 goals. A set in tennis.
Matthews is simply awesome. The
other day scored 2 goals after a long absence. Few shifts, 2 goals. In
the next game his time on ice will be increased and the offensive
production will increase for Toronto. We have a roster with Matthews,
Marleau, Nylander, Kadri, Bozak, Hyman ... and a game style that is
awesome to watch.
Arizona is at this moment the worst team in the
league with just 11 points. 85 goals against, nothing more to say. We
have a weak team that will have million troubles stoping an awesome team
offensively.
4 goals? Love it.
Expecting at least 4 goals for Toronto is easy to explain why I like the spread for the Maple Leafs, right? Taking it too.

I was wondering if you check starting goalies and injury reports to make your assessment of team match ups. You certainly seem to have all the bases covered!

Thank you vixen!
I think that the starting goalies are very important. In fact, one of the most important. I just posted the Toronto pick because Andersen was playing that well (I think he had 2 shutouts in a row) that it was impossible not to see him as starter. He was confirmed by the way. Arizona's GK was not that important because Raanta or Wedgewood wont be determinant. By the way, Raanta likely but not confirmed.
Talking about injuries, I only put attention to it if the absences are important or too many. Important means that in Toronto for example I only would be worried if Andersen is out (the GK), Matthews, Marleau, Kadri, Rielly ... few more. Anyway, I like to know the absences or the possible absences for every match.
Well, taking a look to the rest of the matches so you will have 1 or 2 more picks in few minutes.

Hellebuyck and Rinne starting, two of the goalies that are playing better so far this season. Hellebuyck has 2.26 GAA while Rinne is 2.45 GAA. Great numbers for both goalies, but I still like the over.
Winnipeg is probably my favourite team for the overs along with Toronto. Their gamestyle is very entertaining to watch and you will always have scoring chances in both sides if the Jets are playing. The goalies performances this season influenced too much the odds and the line for this over, but I really think both teams have enough firepower to score at least 6 goals.
Taking a closer look to their goals numbers, we can see that Nashville at home scored 34 goals and allowed 25 in 8 matches. Average: 7.4 goals per match. Jets always plays faster at home so their numbers away are not that high. 26 goals for and 22 against in 9 matches. Average: 5.33 goals per match (playing at home it raises to 6.7 goals per match).
Im not worried about those Jets numbers. It is a team that has a high paced hockey that fits really well with the overs. In a season where we are watching goals and goals, a line like this when the Jets are playing is simply a must take, even knowing that Hellebuyck and Rinne are pretty reliable GKs. Small-medium stakes anyway.

Back to back for the Ducks and probably with Berra on net. Expecting a tough match for them.
Anaheim won yesterday against Florida but their game was not good at all. They allowed million shots and Gibson posted a superb performance. After that tough night, I think that the Ducks will put Berra between the pipes today, but there is nothing confirmed.
With Berra playing or not, I like the Sharks in here. Anaheim lost plenty of players because of injuries and the team is not playing very well. We are talking about a team that is offensively inefficient and the absences of players like Getzlaf or Kesler are petty important. Into my eyes, Kesler and Getzlaf are two of the best three offensive players this team has, along with Perry of course.
San Jose is rested and needing desperately wins. 2 losses in a row and playing at home, against Boston and Florida, put them in a must win situation. After this match, they will travel to Vegas and Arizona for a short road trip.
Take San Jose ML, -180. 4 units San Jose -1.5, +162. 1 unit

I like the under 2.5 for Buffalo but the odds are not high enough for the risk it suposses. Bobrovsky has been superb lately, probably the best GK so far this season. Anyway, skipped it at the end

Very slow start for Toronto that allowed Arizona to score first after a sleepy first 10 minutes where the Maple Leafs did almost nothing. After the goal, Toronto pushed a lot and thats what I expect for the rest of the game.
Toronto had enough chances in the last 10 minutes of the first period to have tied the game but they couldnt score so far. The second period will start with a powerplay for the home side by the way.

Yotes are making up for lost ground. They're all pros getting paid high salaries which is why any given team can win regardless of how good their record is. Also when a good team plays a bad team, I have noticed there is a tendency for the better team to play with less ferocity, and let their guard down. How many times have we seen that in sports, especially when a lot of these players are primadonnas. Anyway, really appreciate your write ups, Travel. Good luck with remainder of plays.
