Miller goes for Buffalo. His goals against average on home ice this year is 3.08. His career GAA vs. Philadelphia is 2.88. Bryzgalov goes for the Flyers. He sports career goals against average of 3.57 vs. the Sabres.
The Flyers rank #1 in the league in first period goals scored and the Sabres rank 9th. The Flyers also rank 5th in goals allowed in the first period. You are getting two of the best scoring teams going head to head with a plus money line at most books. Got to take a look and bet it.
Both teams are scoring at a 10% clip in their home/away roles and are both averaging over 3 goals a game in tonight’s home/away roles. Philly’s goaltending is starting to look weak again and it looks like they are going to have to outscore their opponents to win games, and they are more than capable of scoring.
Just like last night’s Lighting/Hurricane’s game, this series also has a tendency for high scoring games (over is 8-2 last 10 meetings and 22-6 in the last 28)
Philly is also developing a tendency to play high scoring road games (10-3 “over” their last 13 road games) Also, a trend that I can not overlook is Buffalo’s 10-1 “over” record in games when they come off a 2 goal or less performance. Tonight they have a chance to come out and establish themselves against a team that allows a lot of first period chances but they have to watch themselves because this is the best starting team in the league they are facing, as I noted above.
Buffalo is 3-2 "over" on home ice so far compared to 1-4 "under" on the road so if you are going to bet the Sabres to go over the total, home ice so far appears to be the place to do it.
3. Toronto vs. New Jersey over 1.5 +122 1st period
Gustavson takes his fat road 3.87 GAA to the Devils. The Monster has always struggled on the road posting a lifetime 3.23 GAA.
New Jersey comes home after a very lengthy road trip and I look for the Leafs to try to pounce on them early. I don’t trust the Monster though and he has to be good for at least a couple allowed. Brodeur is also in that "can't trust" mode and while the overall game total for this game appears tight, I do not want to be betting it at a price of -133 currently at my book. This is one of those games that could land on 5 or go over by just a goal.
I would expect Toronto to come out and try to get a fast start against a Devils team coming home after 4 straight on the road.
The Monster, by his very nature, might be good for one allowed himself early as has been his tendency. I’ll take the better price on this game to get going in the first period before the Devils roll up into their boring style of play that makes hocley so difficult to watch at times.
Good luck friends and remember everyone's bankroll is different as are their tolerances....bet only within your means and only what you can afford to lose. Make sure you can pay your bills first. Cheers.
