Is this normal? The teams that should win seem to find a way to lose day in day out. I have been following hockey for many years, i don't remember anything like this.... Kings and Sharks can't score Chicago had an awful slump, Anaheim is now slumping Calgary and Edmonton are on fire, last week it was Florida Vancouver has lost 6 in a row, Islanders were playing like Kings, now they can't win Winnipeg seemed dead, now resurrected
It's all so crasy
What about the totals,,,, fuckkk the totals everybody here seem to be on the wrong side, you think a high scoring game....it ends 1-0 or 2-1
Like all are saying, the Olympics have changed everything... How can ''Professionnals '' play like this, it's their job to play hard, their payed millions and play like they don't care....
Sorry for my rant,,, i just don't understand....

No rhyme or reason really. Teams on paper SHOULD win, but should is the key word. I suppose that's why they always play the game. I'm curious to see how teams pan out after the olympics/trades.

It has really been a strange season, too often a team is in a spot where everything points to them winning the game and it doesnt happen...Vegas has really cleaned up so far.

That being said, hockey is not sick and its just become the nature of the game. I find it much easier to cap games in the playoffs and have done a lot better compared to reg season in recent years.

Im hoping that things go back to normal acter the Olympics. Im playing phonenix tonight against chicago. I believe that the coyotes have had this game circled on their calender for a while now. A large number of the hawks are going to sochi, so I think their minds are eleswhere and they will not be focused on nhl hockey this Friday.
It also fits into your theory for teams that should win dont win

Crappy teams heat up, good teams go on cold stretches, some good teams always have trouble with lousy teams and vice versa.
That's why you need to follow the sport closely and have your finger on the pulse of the game, the longer you do it, the more easier it will be to spot.

You always have this mid season. Teams just going through the motions, waiting for the All Star break. But where it's the Olympics it magnified somewhat.

I don't think anything is crazy about this years NHL so far, Edmonton and Calgary are awful u can bet against them 7 out of 7 days a week every week and win money. Take the Ducks, Blackhawks, Blues, Sharks, Bruins and u will win more than u lose.

That is why its called gambling. If it was so easy to pick the winners every night...everyone would be rich and Vegas would just be another small town in the desert full of tumbleweeds.

Players find hit difficult to keep their focus, Olympics and trade deadline. We, has cappers, need also to keep our focus.. Like the players, we know what to do to win, sometimes we let our emotions take control and we lose this focus and we lean away from the basics of good gambling Learning to cope with losing streaks, or just a bad night is crucial in our gambling habits.. keep the focus,,,, one game at a time

Lippsman bang on as usual. almost always have a period of "mid-season blahs". with 82 games on the schedule there are going to be nights where the playoff "locked in" teams just goof off. while those on the "edge" come to play every night.
I would think it's about the same with ANY sport with a long regular season then playoffs at the end. probably tough to stay focused for sometimes meaningless games

have you seen how goals are scored.this isn't football or basketball where you need precision goals in hockey hit or bounce off players skates etc. they just shoot at the net and hope for rebounds.the players are athletes but the puck has different ideas.lot of fluke involved.

Sports keeps on evolving and hockey is no different. The teams that are vet laden are going to struggle in the long term. Hockey is a young mans game and the teams that bring up young talent quicker will win. Think of a team like the Wings who lost their vets but are still in the playoff race. A team like Vancouver with the Sedins that are aging and can't keep up any longer and will need more speed to help them. When Hertl went down, the Sharks goals went down as well. Marleau and Thornton cant keep up with this years grind. This is why Col is doing so well. Energy and speed will win the cup this year.
