I'm a West coaster so no ice. Played sports but not hockey.
I went back and watched the Preds meltdown. Someone committed too much and blew a tire/skate in the last 20 seconds there to allow the player to make the pass but I'm looking at #17. Did he over commit into the center to allow the player on the left a chance to walk in a little and take that wide open shot(the one that ended up popping off the boards to be stuffed in)?
It looked like the center had the middle blue liner covered and #17 should have stayed put to cover his man and got in his way/tried to block his shot. What happened there?

Played Reffed and coached up through High School level in USA. Preds legs not moving, and not covering Nuks players down low. When 17 goes to try and block the shot, three other Preds players are beyond the face-off dots. When I coached and you are trying to hang on, you give the opponent that space. Both D and the Center or Opposite Wing has to be down low. Once the forward who lost his edge goes down, one of those two Preds players has got to let the pinching D have that space and get down low.
The bounce off the boards is a bit of a unlucky bounce, but if you have your D in tight, one of them might be able to help. Three Nuks all alone on front of Saros when puck goes in. Unreal.
