Week One is in the books and we do not have an outbreak of Covid-19 decimating the league so I feel fairly confident in posting this.
We have a total of 42 players. I know it says 43 on the home page but UFG1 registered accidentally when trying to join the High Roller. He will not be making picks in the 20th Annual, please disregard his presence on the leaderboard. Consider it a benefit, he finished with the highest unit total each of the last two years and has called himself up from the minors to the majors...
So we have a $4200 prize pool. This is a roughly 30% reduction in players / prize pool from the last several years. While not unexpected for obvious reasons, I have had to reduce the variety and amounts of several payouts. Here's the skinny:
$100 WEEKLY WINNERS: Weekly high unit totals will only apply to even-numbered weeks of the regular season (2/4/6/8/10/12/14/16). The player with the highest weekly unit total for each of these weeks will win $100. In the event of a tie between players, ONLY the tied players will advance to the following week and will compete head-to-head to determine who wins the money.
$400 SUPER BOWL PREDICTION: The player who most accurately predicts the result of this year's Super Bowl will win $400. Predict the winner, loser and final score of the game. The deadline to make your prediction is midnight on Thursday, October 7 prior to the start of Week 5 games. I will have a dedicated thread for this prize posted shortly, all predictions must appear on the "Super Bowl Prediction" thread and meet the prediction deadline.
$275 PLAYOFF PICK CHALLENGE: While playoff picks are optional, the player with the highest unit total for the playoffs (Wild Card weekend through the Super Bowl) will win $275. I will have a dedicated thread for this prize up well before the end of the regular season, and will post a top ten leaderboard following each week's results.
TOP FINISHERS: Player unit totals following the conclusion of the Super Bowl:
1st place overall $1500
2nd place overall $750
3rd place overall $375
Last place overall $100 (failure to make a pick during any week of the regular season will result in DQ from last place prize money)
That's it. Thank you to all veteran players and rookies alike, this season's turnout is better than I had hoped it would be. Best of luck to you all

Due to popular opinion, by which I mean players who actually read the forum and are interested in making the pool more entertaining for everyone involved, the weekly winner prize will happen every week (weeks 2-17) and will be worth $50. In the event of a tie, the $50 cash prize will roll over to the following week and be available to ALL players. In the event of a tie in week 17, the tied player with the best overall win percentage will take the money.
This will not affect the overall prize schedule since it is the same amount of money (8 weeks at $100 vs 16 weeks at $50).
I will post this adjustment on the weekly winners thread as well. Appreciate the feedback, I am always looking to improve the pool.

Soooo yeah. I know you don’t come to the bus stop, pull the wang out of my mouth and tell me how to suck it, but why not do away with the super bowl pick and use the funds from that to pay for something to reward skill like a weekly winner. I mean $400 bucks.... dude

I assume the Tues Buf/Ten game counts towards week 5? Covers is letting me pick it even though I’m at 10 picks...not sure if that would count as pick 11 for week 5 or pick 1 for week 6?

I've contacted Covers Tech for an answer. Technically Titans / Bills is a week five game on the NFL schedule, but I am assuming that because it's on a Tuesday that it is being applied to week six as Covers weeks roll over on Monday into Tuesday.
If Titans / Bills applies to week six in the system, then so be it. This should resolve itself one way or another when Covers updates overnight.
However, if any player shows as having more than 10 picks during week five, I will have to revisit this. Updates to follow.
Thanks for letting me know.
